finding rogue AP's with the axim

I'm currently searching the forums for this, but figured I'd throw it out there, anyways, as the answers I'm finding aren't all that inclusive.

Does anyone know of software that works on the Ax (i.e. Wi Fi Fo Fum), but also has a port scanner, logging capabilities, and other wireless info? I am currently working on a project for a local business that has about 60 wireless AP's that they want to ensure are secured and are not being misused. The IT guy that works there is a friend of mine, and while he has an iPaq, he doesn't have the software to perform this task.

We're looking for something that will give us signal strength, allow us to sniff a little of traffic to ensure that it's not malicious (can be checked on a desktop or something afterwards, if that's possible, he has all that info), and will allow us to verify that WEP is working correctly.

If you want to try to hack an AP you`ll allways have to use a notebook. There is no software capable of all the things you need for the PocketPc that i know of.

Have fun!

I'm not looking to hack an AP, I'm looking for a way to verify that the traffic is coming from known pc's in the network. We have a laptop that does do some of the stuff, however, since all of the laptops available have built-in Wireless-G, that pretty much stops us from using Linux or more robust programs from working. We've tried using 802.11b cards with very, very limited success, as they run G-only mode on all but 1 of their AP's.

The 1 AP that we're testing with B is going to be used for their network, as they aren't seeing an advantage to only having Wireless G networks and Linux/Mac clients in the same network. Since a VERY few G cards are available for Linux, going back to B mode makes more sense for them.

You can't get all the toys available to normal PC's, but there are a few good ones out there for PPC. Check out my "myPDA" link.

I also recently found this link. Enjoy.
