What am I doing wrong?
I've got a new X50v. When I hold the button on the right-hand side to enable wireless, the blue light begins to flash but nothing else happens.
At one time, an icon would appear with a message telling me that a connection is available, but that doesn't happen anymore. My router is set up correctly, every other PC in my house has no problems connecting to it.
I must've done something wrong in the "Connections" settings.
Is it just me, or is this thing extremely non-intuitave when trying to connect to WAPs, compared to other 802.11 devices such as laptops, etc?
Anyway, can anyone tell me what I need to do to get it to recognize an Access Point.
Thanks,
-Steve

Hi,
What I've found is the wireless button activates the last connection you made, wifi or bluetooth, the green flashing light is for wifi and the blue flashing light is for bluetooth, you need to initiate the wifi tapping on the wifi icon on the traybar
Hope this helps :)

Alright, I got the little WLAN icon to re-appear. When looking at Settings-->Connections-->WLAN Utility, Apparently WLAN was turned OFF...Duh!
Anyway, now WLAN is turned on, but it still does not detect my network. It did a few days ago. I couldn't get online, but at least it detected it. Now it only has the stuff I manually put in when attmepting to connect to a freinds wirless network.
What is the deal with this thing? I'm fairly experienced with wireless networks, but this thing is rediculous. I'm about to throw it accross the room!
The manual is horrible, and the Help is not much help at all.
Very simply...how the heck can I get online with this thing?
Thanks,
-Steve

Ahhh, I see. I had the Blue Tooth on. When I turned it off, then the light began to blink green.
Still won't pick up my SSID though...

Bump-- newbie here with the same question. I'm definitely NOT a techie, but I'm having the same problem. I've tried to access free wifi spots (coffee shops, school, etc.) following the manual but nothing I do seems to work. I can get both the blue and green lights to blink, but I can't surf the web. I just get error messages. Can anybody help??
Thanks,
H

Hi Hedsill,
What kind of error messages?
There are two possible issues. (Well, actually, lots more. But 2 easy to check right off.) First, are you sure your PPC has DHCP enabled ("receive IP address from server")? Second, many public WiFi spots expect you to do some sort of logon (even when they're free). That's usually done with a splash screen coming up in your browser. So, be sure your browser is running before you turn WiFi on to make a connection. (Or at least open your browser up immediately after turning WiFi on.)
Good luck.
Marc
