Share Internet Connection Using Bluetooth

I have a Dell laptop and a Dell Axim PDA. I cannot get the PDA to connect to the laptop via Bluetooth to connect to the internet. I followed the instructions in the FAQ. I've searched the internet and read many threads here. Nothing is working.

I get everything configured on the laptop, but when I go to connect on the PDA, I get to the point where my laptop name shows up, and that's it. It will not make the connection. I am at a total loss.

I can make an ActiveSync connection via Bluetooth, so I know both adapters are working. But I cannot figure out how to establish the internet sharing.

Now it looks like it's trying to actually connect, but I'm stuck with a balloon that says "Connecting to: BT Network Access Using: Bluetooth Null Modem" "Dialing: Connect..."

What does this mean? I can click on Settings, which just takes me to the regular settings screen. Or I can click on Hide, which doesn't actually hide it, and I still can't access anything through Internet Explorer. Or I can click on Cancel which obviously cancels the connection.

Well, I'm getting closer. Everything works fine after I shut off ZoneAlarm. Any ideas on how to make it work with ZoneAlarm running?

Okay, I solved my own thread. I hope this helps someone in the future. In ZoneAlarm 5.5x, click on Firewall. Click Zones. Click Add and choose Subnet. Enter 192.168.0.1 for the IP and 255.255.255.0 as the Subnet. Give it a name, click OK and Apply. The IP address and Subnet numbers came from the entries in my Bluetooth network adapter TCP/IP settings.

I spoke too soon. It appears a connection has been made, but I cannot pull up any web pages.

Feel free to jump in here any time and offer some advice.

Is everyone else who's using their BT connection to connect to the internet via a computer not running a firewall?
