I am completely new to pda and pocketpc thing.

I have sony wi-fi card and installed pocketwinc so I can surf the web both at home and at office easily. My goal is to play mp3 files stored on my home desktop pc while at office. To do this, I know I need vpn so I installed vpn incoming connection on home machine running windows xp pro. But axim's networking part really makes no sense to me. I couldn't make vpn to work.

I tried to add a new setting with vpn but no success. Worse, when I delete that new setting. PIE doesn't display pictures on webpages anymore. Crazy me now!

One more complicated thing is that I am using aol. Does that affect vpn connection from outside?

Any advice or experience is welcomed!

I'm not really an expert with VPNs but I can tell you if you are using an AOL dial-up connection on either end there is no way your VPN will work for streaming mp3s, there just won't be enough bandwidth.

I found out the button to control PIE displaying pictures on/off.

I am using AOL Broadband right now, so the bandwidth is not a problem. Anyone tried set up a vpn server at home? Success stories needed.

i assume you have a static ip address, right? instead of vpn, why not set up a simple 'shoutcast' server from your machine, then you could stream the tunes 24x7 looped, and that'd b it...
just a thought...
