Problem - Cell Modem Disconnecting

I've had my X50V about 4 weeks now and was successful in setting up and pairing my Cingular Nokia 6230 (as a modem) with my PDA. It worked fine until I decided to do a hard reset and start clean after playing with the PDA for a couple of weeks.

I recorded all the phone/modem setup info and rebuild/re-entered the modem setup and paired the phone to the PDA - now it will not work.

My symptoms:
1- I can connect with the phone, so it is paired.
2- The phone prompts "Connect with Dell AXIMX50?" and I accept.
3- The next message on the phone is "Connected to AXIM X50"
4- The next message on the phone is "Disconnected: Dell AXIM X50". Note: It cycles through steps 2,3 & 4 twice.
5- The next message on the PDA is "The connection failed and could not be reestablished", I click OK

I have tried:

1) Turning both devices off and try again - did not work.
2) Soft reset on PDA, turn phone off and back on - did not work.
3) Deleted the modem setup and re-entered and paired the phone to the PDA again - again, did not work.
4) Tested my phone as a modem, connected via USB, to my laptop. It worked, so my phone and data service it ok.

Where do I go next????

I am thinking about do a backup and restoring the PDA to a point where the modem worked (two days ago), just to see if there is something in the setup I missed. I don't expect to find anything new, but don't know what else to try.

Any suggestions on where to go next in resolving this issue would be appreciated.

Problem Resolved

Here is what I did (grasping at straws) and the problem was resolved:

1) Turned off both devices.
2) Did soft reset on the PDA.
3) Deleted the modem setup.
4) did a soft reset (don't know why - just trying anything at this point)
5) recreated the modem setup/connection per instructions on this website (like 1st time)
6) turned on the phone. Paired to PDA.
7) tested the modem and it worked!

Conclusion - don't know the orgin or cause for the problem. When in doubt, start from scratch.
