Question Pass Phrases

I am new to the Axim and PDA world, I'll post an into shortly.

Anyways, I can see both my college connection, my cellphone, and my home wireless connection but have issues.

My cell works thanks to these great forums, but this is expensive.

Both my college and my home connection are visible but require a pass phrase. Where the heck do I enter them at? I am confused and so was the admin at school. So I am requesting on how I can enter it for school because they provide it. Also, where do I enter it at home, and where do I get the proper phrase.

If anyone can assist it would be greatly appreciated.

The passphrase for your college is given to you by your school. If the admin at the school doesn't know what that is or how to set it up, then he needs a new job.

However, a LOT of colleges (including mine) require you to register your laptop/computer/pda with the school to be authorized to use their wifi network by giving them your MAC # and they will authorize your pda.

As far as your home connection, you should know your key since you set it up. Who makes your router?

The admin does know what the pass phrase is, but like me, does not know where to enter it at on this thing.

I use a linux wireless router for my lap top (wireless) and desktop (hard wired). I stayed up kind of late last night getting everything else set up so will work on this tonight. I'll try going to the admin page set up for my router and see if I can locate it.

Either way I still have the same problem, where do you enter the info on your pda once you have it?

Is it WEP or WPA-PSK? If it's WEP you can't use the passphrase, you'll need to enter the key in the Odyssey configuration.

I do believe it is WEP, and what you are saying makes since as I can't enter one, since there is no place anywhere.

It sounds like I need to tinker with oddesy now.

Well you don't have to. Odyssey seems to be the preferred method, but it's not the only method.

If you don't want to use Odyssey just go to the network settings and find the list of networks, click the network, ensure that it's set for WEP and there should be a field to enter the key.

This page might help you in your Odyssey adventures.
