I'm trying to configure my X50v to work with my home network. Please excuse my terminology, as I'm not that good with networks. It's all new to me.
I'm using a Netgear DG834GT set to b+g mode. I use 128-bit WEP with a passkey that converts into 4 keys.
When I activate the WLAN utility, I can get it to see my home network, but it can't connect, and I get no popup saying a new network is available. The signal is "normal". When I go into the settings it won't let me type into the key field.
I've read and re-read the wifi tutorial on the site, but I can't figure out what I need to do.
Can someone help me please.
Thanks.

No luck, it says it's trying to connect, but it just stays like that.
I've sat less than 1m away from the router, so I know signal strength is not a problem.
I'm gonna update the firmware in the router, because I've read about some issues with the firmware version that i'm currently using.

One thing to check is whether you have set the pda to use WEP, if you can't get into the key field, that might be the reason.
Do I have to manually type in all 4 WEP codes in the WLAN utility?
Anyway, I have done, and now the icon on the taskbar constantly shows the "connecting" animation, with the WLAN utility saying "connecting". It stays like this until I switch the wireless off.
What am I doing wrong?

You should only have to enter 1 key, and that will be the one that your router uses as the default.
When you enter the key on the X50v, you enter the hexadecimal key, not the paraphrase/passkey.
If you're getting a signal, but no IP, try going into Start-Settings-Connections-Network Cards. You should see your network listed in the top box, double-tap the network and you should get to the General tab, make sure that Connects to: is set to Work. Then go to the Network Key tab and select the type of authentification, either Open or Shared, depending on your router setting. Uncheck the box that says "The Key is provided to me automatically". Enter the hex key in the Network key box and then select the Key index that corresponds to your router setting. Click ok to exit the settings. you may need to do a soft reset to get connected. Also make you're not too far from the router the 1st time you try to connect, it should have get you online.
No. Re-enabling SSID broadcast doesn't seem to have helped.
It detects the network fine, the signal strength is normal, but it still just keeps on trying to connect. It doesn't stop until I turn it off (no failed message or anything).
Go into the configure network page and uncheck the 'automatically connect to nonprefrred networks' option. While you are on that page, remove the network settings that are listed so you can start from scratch. Once you make these changes, disable WiFi while you make changes in the router settings.
Without SSID broadcast, the PPC will not find the network. You could set it up manually but it will be easier to have the broadcast enabled until the connection is working.
While in the router settings, you may want to try switching the channel, especially if the neighbor's network you connected to was on the same channel. If you do this, stick with 1, 6, or 11. You may also want to disable WEP until you get the connection working to make sure that isn't the problem. Once you are able to connect, go back in and enable WEP. In doing this you may want to consider just using 64-bit. In reality, 64-bit is just as secure and it's much easier to enter 10 characters correctly on your Axim than 26.
After making these changes, turn WiFi back on. The PPC will find the network and ask if you want to connect. Select "Work" as the option when it asks what it connects to.

EDIT ON PC: I can't seem to get a connection when I re-enable WEP. I type in the passphrase, and it generates 4 keys. How do I get those keys into the ax?
BTW, WPA-PSK is not an option, as the laptop we use is Win98, which cannot support WPA-PSK.
