WiFi Companion and X51v

It seems that the Wifi Companion Software that Dell "recommends" you buy with the AXIM doesn't suppot Windows 2005 as of yet. Has anyone been able to get this to work with the X51v????

Good news. I had the same problem, even called Dell and they were stumped. They finally told me it wouldn't work and they were sorry it was sent out.

But just yesterday I surfed the socket website and found the upgrade release. You can find it here:

http://www.socketcom.com/support/sup....asp?Type=WiFi

I had problems with it initially, not downloading to my PC from the site. But I downloaded it to the Axim no problem, then synched it over to the PC and installed it from the PC (it won't install directly on the Axim).

I installed the .cab file option. I found it very easy (and I'm not too computer smart). Once you do it, you have to register it with the program key on the inside of the case that Dell sent you. This make it a registered version. Use the www adress on the sticker, not in the booklet. Once you register it, it will send you a number that you type into the Axim to make it a registered version.

Seems to have a few minor bugs, such as saying "0%" signal strength on the tower icon on 1 screen, but then the true signal strength on another screen. I'm still trying to learn everything about it, but it seems user friendly so far.

Glad to hear it. Now that you're using it, have you figured out how to use it exclusively, ie. how do you turn off the WLAN utility resident on the device?
