Corrupt Backup File, can't Restore
Using the Axim50 native Backup program, I've backed up my unit to a CF card. Minutes later disaster struck and I had to do a hard reset, losing everything. No problem, I thought (somewhat smugly I admit), I have a backup.
BIG PROBLEM, however, is that the backup file seems to be corrupt. When I try to Restore it, 5% into it I get the message: "Caution / Failed to restore database." So, I guess my first question would be, is there a utility out there (perhaps like scanpst.exe for Outlook) that can daignose/fix the .dbk file? No PC-based backups, either (my .stg file has disappeared somehow, don't know when). Any suggestions? Thanks. /Steven | |||

I had the exact same problem after I fried the wireless chip. But after restoring from a really old backup, all of my backups began to work. Try that out, see if it works.

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately I don't have any older backups (long story). Based on your suggestion, I did create a new Backup and Restored it successfully. Then I tried the *real* backup file (all 29Megs of it), but with the same sorry result.

If you are using Sprite try doing a restore and select what items you wish to restore, removing all databases from the restore and see what happens. If that is the only corrupt section then the rest should be returned to the way it was and activesync should update your databases.
