Battery dead every morning
I just realized I was replying to a similar thread in the X5 hardware forum, but I have an X50v. I also believe this might be a software/OS issue, and not hardware related.
My Axim can have a full charge before I go to sleep, however I notice that sometimes even if axim is in suspend mode "off" (unplugged, undocked), I wake up to find that my battery is practically dead. It is @ 5% charge and the screen is still off but the green light is blinking and the Axim unit is "hot" as if it has been running all night. This happened again yesterday, I actually left my Axim in the car, off and locked, and when I came in my car to leave, the battery was at 7% life and the green light was blinking again... Might there be a setting or software that can actually wake my axim up and drain the battery? Also shouldnt my Axim go to sleep if it has been idle for n minutes?

It has happened to me.
I had a reminder programmed for 6 am. I also played with my axim's settings that previous night. It seems that I set the device to stay on even when it was undocked or unplugged from the juice. The reminder went off. The axim kept itself on and after a while it turned itself off, of course because the battery level was beyond critical and it could not stay on anymore. This may be your problem, or something very similar. Cheers

Are any of you that are having this problem also using Egress? I unchecked the auto retreive feature and I have not had the problem since. Although it may be too early to speculate, it has been 2 days and all is good so far.

Having a similar problem with my X5 running on WM2003. I do note that when the unit is turned on, there is usually some sort of reminder that has activated through my calendar. I keep the X5 in a leather folding pouch similar to the leather holster it comes with from Dell. I'm wondering if it could be a simple as something in the case in contact with the touch screen when the X5 wakes up???
If the unit were to wake with a notice, would something in contact with the touch screen prevent the unit from turning totally off again, creating the drain??? Is there any area here dealing with popup notification?

My suggestion is:
1. Get Memmaid from Dinarsoft 2. Use the Notification Utility 3. Check your notifications, I had this exact same issue and I found out it was NewsBreak and Sprite Backup turning on at 3:00 AM for some reason and then freezing my PDA. AFter I deleated the "notification", everthing worked fine.

Dark -
Cleaned with Memmaid, which I already use. Nothing screwy turned up there.... Here's an update - found out that when I disengage from the cradle after a sync, ActiveSync doesn't automaticly detect the disconnect and shut down - it's still doing its thing in the backround. Why is that do you suppose? I keep getting the "activesync is not responding. It may be busy, waiting for a response from you, or it may have stopped running...." message... ....just about 100% of the time, as a matter of fact!
