Laptop - Axim x50v wifi connection HELP!

LAPTOP: HP PAVILLION 6000 with built in WiFi
PDA: DELL AXIM X50V with built in WiFi
I have no router.
Followed IKE's instructions to make the connection:http://wifi.aximsite.com. THE GOOD NEWS: The computer found the wireless network when I turned on the my PDA, and ANOTHER GOOD NEWS: the PDA says it is connected to the wireless network via WiFi when the computer is turned on. BUT NOTHING MORE THAN THAT.

I cannot Sync wireless, I cannot send or get files from the computer, I CAN NOT SEE anything else.
To connect to my laptop is mandatory a router?

Even if the laptop has WiFi? Just give me a clue!! please...

What can I do. Help me please.

without a router or true home network, i think that you will have to make sure you are using an ad hoc network connection. I think the change is on the settings page, where it Networks to Access. check computer to computer and see if you can get any further.

I set up both the computer and the PDA to use an Ad hoc network connection. But it does not work yet. Odyssey client says it is connected too. But nothing beyond that point. Odyssey Client says also that I am connected to the network.

I think that you have to have performed one sync with the usb cradle. That establishes the link with the pc, the items you want to sync "gives" the ppc the ability to open the connection. When you are configuring the sync connection using the cable, make sure the box to enable ethernet and RAS syncing is checked.

Also make sure if you have a firewall installed it is disabled or configured to allow the connection.

Finally the sync must be started from the pocket pc. I don't know if auto syncing is possible with wireless.

good luck

Where can I find the box to enable the ethernet and RAS syncing? I cannot find it neither in the PDA nor in the PC.

On the pc, open up activesync. Under the file menu, connection settings, there are several connection options. The ethernet option is about third down on the page.

EDIT: What is the name of your PDA? If this is a microsoft network your PDA must have a microsoft network legal name, therefore it cannot have and underscore in it! You can change it under settings, system, about, device ID from the start menu.

I keep forgetting that
