You will need a spare battery or two to make it for 16 hours.
If you get dead silence after breaking the speed of sound, would you be in the darkness after passing the speed of light?

or you can buy that 3000mah extended battery. Or you can buy a 4AA battery extender from ebay for like $6.

It also depend on what you are going to do. Play games or listen to music or video? The more you do the more power you will need.

Or, you can use the PDA till the battery drains completely and let it sit. You won't have to worry about data loss since it's a Microsoft requirement that the mobile devices prior to WM2005 turn off with enough backup power for the data to last at least three days. I'd backup to BIS or an external card just to be safe, but yes, your device should last fine, as long as you don't intend to use it the whole time.

Thank you all for the responses, I plan to keep it off the whole time perhaps send some SMS messages once I get there .. it seems like my battery drains out quickly regardless if it is off or not ..

So I take it if my x50v is normal then it should last for that long if I keep it off the whole time ! correct ?

Or, if you're a little adventurous, you could try this:
how-to make a ‘usb battery’

But don't get mad at me if you blow up your axim

Yep, keep it off and you'll have no challenges. You might want to ensure that you have a method if charging the battery when you get to where you are going though.

Get the second batt, buy a good game and when this batt runs low plug in the other one and at about 70% turn it off. With this method you´ll have no worries!

Why not fly business class where you'd have an AC plug, then you could do everything you want on your Axim and be fully charged when you hit the ground?

Where are you going that takes 16hrs? You have to keep yourself entertained, so you might as well get one of those AA battery extenders b/c 16 hrs in a little tube will get old fast.
