doh! - I clicked on save password! How do I unclick it?

Hi Everyone,

I've had my Axim for a little while now and am able to access my PC through wireless. Normally I run Terminal Services Client to basically ping the PC (or else I can't connect for some unkown reason) and then just go into File Explorer and type in my PC's name (\\MY-COMPY)

I know that this is a little insecure as it doesn't ask for login details and so I've now changed it so that it does. I've created a PDA user name and password (Windows XP Pro user control part in administrators). Well it all worked fine, I got the username and password prompt on my PDA and entered the details. It all worked fine and I was able to access my files. However I stupidly clicked on save password which I didn't realise would be a problem until now. I needed to change the username and password so that it was a little more logical however, my PDA still wants to log in with the old login details and won't bring the prompt up asking me to change my password or username because (i presume) i clicked on 'save password'.

Please could someone help me to try and recover / untick the 'save password' thing? I'm presuming it's something in the registry, which I have access to using 'Total Commander' and so any pointers would be much appreciated.

My last resort is to to a hard reset but I don't want to do this really as I'll have to put everything back on and set it up again. FYI, I've already tried removed and re-creating my WAN / TCPIP setting on my PDA to see if this helped but it didn't work.

Many thanks in advance

try searching for that in the registry. also, is there some way to log out other than just closing it? usually that sticks until you do a log out.

Hi Big Dave,

I've been looking through the registry but there are lots of codes and non-word entries which I'm not able to understand. So far I haven't found the particular key I'm look for. Nor have I found a way of 'logging out' from my server connection. You either turn the wireless off of close explorer but because I've checked the 'save password' option, it never seems to ask me for my details when loggin back in.

Does anyone know of any other forums of programs that might help me solve this problem???

Many thanks in advance

that's the utmost last resort, but i'm sure that there must be another way.

Any more ideas?

Thanks

Don't hard reset. Many things can be fixed without that extreme measure.

Search around AximSite a little more. I will see if I can figure out something too.

Don't give up too soon.

Here is something to try:
using a registry editor, open \HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\AirSync\Conn ection
the SavePassword option is probably set to 1, change it to 0.
If this doesn't fix it, you will probably want to change it back.

I didn't find anything else in my registry that looks like the culprit.
I use PHMRegEdit, which has a search option. You can do a little searching yourself.

As with any playing around with the registry, be sure to have a full backup of you ppc, and a backup of the registry before changing it.
