Can't send emails with my axim and mobile outlook using a pop3 email account......

I set up my pop3 email accounts on my axim using mobile outlook but it wont let me send out any emails. Every time I try to send out an email it says "Messages cannot be downladed to your mobile device" blah, blah. I can recieve fine but just cant send. The 1 account is a Gmail account which I understand it not working cause gmail doesnt use standard ports to send email and i cant figure out how to change them in mobile outlook. The other account is a comcast account which uses standard pop3 ports and should work but does not. Any help?

Not sure about GMail, but the problem with your comcast pop account could be coming from an authentication error. Many pop servers won't allow you to send mail unless your email app uses outgoing authentication. To get to that in Messaging, edit the setup of your account (or make a new one) and go to "E-mail Setup (4/4)". This screen should list your incoming and outgoing servers and domain...tap "Options". In "Options (2/3)" check the "Outgoing mail requires authentication" box. You shouldn't need to use separate settings for this as most providers simply want to see the email app send your username and password again.

Also, in almost all cases nowadays you must be on the same network as your ISP account to access their SMTP servers. IOW, if you have a Comcast account you must be connected to the Comcast network to access their SMTP (outgoing) server.

This is where services like Gmail are really handy as they are accessible from any 'net connection.

For info on setting up the ports and authentication for Gmail, log into your account there and look for the links to access the POP/SMTP settings. There is a detailed explanation available.

How do I set up Hotmail

Hi,

I currently have a hotmail accoutn and I am wondering how to set it up. Do I have to pay $19.95 that MS is asking for Pocket MSN or can I use Outlook mobile. As you can see I'm a PPC rookie so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks. :rolling:

Disregard my previous post. I found the options which come only after you hit NEXT.

I need to change the sending port to 587. Is there a way within Outlook to do this?
