Newbie question, How do I get items out of my start menu?

I have installed some programs on my x30 and they keep placing icons in the start menu between Messaging and Programs.
There are 5 there and they are whatever programs were installed last.
If I go into Setting--> Menu they are Not checked and if I try to check things it says only 7 items can be in the menu. Yet I have 12 because the programs are automatically adding their own icon.
I want to have just the default 7 and then programs-settings-help below that.
I'm not sure how to take them out because if I hold-tap a context menu does not open.

thanks

I agree this is annoying. The Start Menu will contain Icons and Names of all programs recently run.

The only way I know of to clear them is to use Tweaks 2k2\Tweaks\ System Tricks\Clear Recent Prog. List.

Unfortunately the next programs run will insert their Icons, so you have to use Tweaks2k2 over and over again.
