I've pulled out my Axim to check my appointments or look up info and I find the green wireless light blinking, but the screen won't turn on. Upon soft reset I find out the battery is dead. On two occasions I've had to reinstall a backup because the backup battery is also dead.
My thought is that my appointment notifications are turning on my Axim and since I had the wireless on when I turned the Axim off the wireless starts up and does not allow my pda to turn off.
Any other ideas? How can I prevent this from happening in the future?
Did you set the power to go off at a certain time? I have mine to go off after 2 minutes of inactivity when running on battery...

Yes, on battery power I'm set to turn off after 3 minutes. My notifications are also turned off, but I still get appt popups when turn on my axim even before I enter my pass code.
Also, make sure that you check the box "Disable WLAN to conserve power when battery is low" in the WLAN utility. That way if the unit gets turned on by accident like that the wireless radio won't drain it down past a certain point.
That is a great suggestion since I usually do not have the wireless disabled when the battery is low so I can work till I'm totally drained. But, why does it happen in the first place?
My impression is that, if the wireless is running when I "turn off" the Axim x50v, then the standby state uses a lot more power than normal, and the battery is very short of volts when I next "turn on" the Ax.
