How do I get HTM(L) files to associate with PIE (Post Opera removal)

Well I guess my Title says it all, but for more specifics:

I installed the Opera Beta. During the installation process it asked if i wanted to have it be my default browser. I said Yes.

I've since decided that Opera really isn't worth the effort. The only way to remove it is to just delete the folder(s) where the parts reside.

But now when I try to open an HTM(L) file it doesn't know what to open it with.

I tried (using Resco File Explorer) to choose PIE when opening HTM and HTML files (and checked the box that says 'always do this'), but for some reason now it opens up Windows Mobile Explorer not PIE

Now if i try to open iexplore.exe, PIE will open but if I open the shortcut labled PIE I get Explorer (the native one).

Any thoughts, ideas, suggestions?

Thanks

A (webless) Bug

If you create a new shortcut for iexplorer.exe what happens? If file associations use the shortcut and the shortcut is wrong, this may solve the problem.

Take Care,
Jim

I had the same problem here. It was VERY IRRITATING to open up one of my html files and have the native FILE EXPLORER open instead of PIE.

I ended up re-installing Opera to get around it, but when the trial is up I will have to figure out a real solution.

Opera is a nice browser, but it has a few really shameful bugs like that.

Gigi;

Got the link/file/info and will let you know if it works. I'm kinda surprised that this isn't a bigger issue than it is. But maybe its just me?

Prior to reading your reply I had actually decided to just try the Netfront's new update and have all my HTM(L) files associated to that, but I knew that was a limited time work around. :rolling:

Thanks again;

Worried Nope Still not able to get things right

I used that program to re-assign file types to a particular program and it really wasn't anything that Resco File Explorer wasn't already doing.

So that means that even though i'm assocating HTM(L) files with Iexplore or PIE - when I try to open those files the program opening is the native File explorer not PIE.

My only current solution as noted above is that I'm using Netfront to handle all my htm(l) files. But i'd still really like to know how to get it back to utizling PIE should I need to do so.

So this problem is still a problem, any help by any one would be greatly appreciated

I knew of this problem, and backed up the registry before installing opera. I then restored it when I removed opera, but this doesn't help people who didn't make a backup.
