Basically, yes. But I believe that the Nexio still comes with Window CE 4.1 and not 4.2.
Quote:
The latest version, Windows CE .NET 4.2, expands upon the solid foundation developed in previous Windows CE versions by providing:
-Support for secure and scalable networking.
-Enhanced real-time processing.
-Faster performance.
-Richer multimedia and Web browsing capabilities.
-Greater interoperability with personal computers, servers, Web services, and devices.

Actually, you really don't have to reinstall it. It's already in the ROM. You may have deleted something by accident. It happens. If you don't have much in your axim, you may want to do a hard reset.

This was a post by a dell employee about the upgrade.
All,
.
I have no information specific to Pocket PC 2003, but I have been with Dell for quite a few Operating System upgrades. When I started we were installing Windows 95 and NT 4.0.
Traditionally, if you purchase your system within a certain period prior to the release of the new Operating System you will receive a coupon for the upgrade. If you purchased your system prior to that point, you are not entitled to a free upgrade. This period has usually been at least 30 days.
I cannot give you firm information, but I would expect that all Axims purchased for at least 30 days prior to the release of Pocket PC 2003 would qualify for a free upgrade. Beyond that I cannot give you any information, though I will post to the forum once there is some official statement.

Rumor has it that Pocket PC 2003 will require 32 MB of ROM.

Hope this is not a re-post, if it is, sorry!!!
I just ordered my Axim today and asked about ppc2003 and what Dell's plan was (in regards to free upgrade for recent purchases or not). After being transfered between three different people the respsonse was "No." I was told it would need to be purchased as an upgrade which is what I thought but was hoping for a freebie, having just bought my Axim today and all. Oh well, I guess Christmas only comes once a year.
I believe a new version of transcriber just recently came out. I havent personally tested it though.

At least that is an indication from someone at Dell that they are going to offer an upgrade. They have been very tight-lipped so far.
