I don't see why everyone thinks that Dell should offer PPC2003 for free. I can understand providing the new OS for those that purchased within 30 days or so, but Dell will not be getting these licenses for free from MS.
When Compaq offered an upgrade for my Ipaq, it was $10 and you could order the CD from their web site. It took them forever to ship, but that's a different story. In this case, Compaq has set the precedent.
If Dell offers the new OS for such a reasonable price, and makes it easy to obtain, I for one, would not complain. Obviously, if they want to charge $30, $40, $50, etc. for the upgrade, then people will have a legitimate issue.
Remember, some of the reasons we are all Axim fans, is that this is the first PPC to offer a great screen, fast processor, built-in dual expansion and lots of RAM for such a reasonable price. In addition, Dell service, for the most part, has been pretty good. I had a hardware problem and got a NEW replacement shipped quickly and they paid for return shipping.
Hopefully, Dell will do the right thing: make it cheap and easy to get. Until we know for sure, speculation won't do much for us.
