Noticed on one of the web sites there is a compatability list for 3rd party software.
Good sign

you expect them to give it out for free or make profit selling it at a decent $20 or 30?? Its an os upgrade just like going from 95 to win98. they buy from MS and dont want to be in debt from taht

I cant even count how many reasons I can come up with to get my Axim replaced (D-Pad issues, Freezing, battery not charging, dead sensor spots on the screen, and the list goes on).

So if Dell wants to play dirty, we'll show 'em real dirty ;)

I don't see why everyone thinks that Dell should offer PPC2003 for free. I can understand providing the new OS for those that purchased within 30 days or so, but Dell will not be getting these licenses for free from MS.

When Compaq offered an upgrade for my Ipaq, it was $10 and you could order the CD from their web site. It took them forever to ship, but that's a different story. In this case, Compaq has set the precedent.

If Dell offers the new OS for such a reasonable price, and makes it easy to obtain, I for one, would not complain. Obviously, if they want to charge $30, $40, $50, etc. for the upgrade, then people will have a legitimate issue.

Remember, some of the reasons we are all Axim fans, is that this is the first PPC to offer a great screen, fast processor, built-in dual expansion and lots of RAM for such a reasonable price. In addition, Dell service, for the most part, has been pretty good. I had a hardware problem and got a NEW replacement shipped quickly and they paid for return shipping.

Hopefully, Dell will do the right thing: make it cheap and easy to get. Until we know for sure, speculation won't do much for us.

PPC 2003 is out. Really.

It looks like the June 2 release date rumours were correct. What's keeping MS from doing the "Offical" release I wonder? Probably some big mfr isn't quite ready & it's causing the holdup. That's my guess anyway.

Well here's hoping that Dell has the upgrade ready for us the moment MS gives their little presentation.!

PPC2003 has been available for the OEM for a while... I've too played with PPC2003 on a h5450, actually I know of several people in Norway that has, but it's very hush-hush ;)

A reasonable price is all I would ask for.

Of course everyone wants it for free. That's human nature.

I fully expect to pay for the upgrade. I did buy a second axim for my girlfriend though, unfortunately I bought it 35 days before the expected release date of June 23rd....doh!
