PocketPC 2003 is here!

Yes, it is here. But not for your Axim. In fact in runs on your PC in an emulator.

http://download.microsoft.com/downlo...2003%20SDK.msi

The download is 80 MB and encompasses the Pocket PC 2003 SDK, including an emulator and an emulator ROM image.

You will be able to test all the new features, like the PocketMSN, Media Player 9, the new "My Images" support, the Compact Framework. Maybe you can even set it up to sync with your PC.

Surprisingly it looks a LOT like PocketPC 2002 still.

I'd have expected them to change the look and feel a bit more.

database issue?

Regarding the installation failure: This looks like a failed SQL database query. Check if your computer's database components are on the latest level. Get the MDAC 2.7 update from Microsoft . Maybe that helps.

I went to go install the SDK, but it said I have to have at least eMbedded 4.0(I only have 3.0). Is there another programming program I can download?? That will work?? All I want to do is use the emulator....:D

Just picking up on something said earlier, as I haven't got the time to install ATM (Overlapping project timescales :-( ):

Can someone confirm whether or not the .net CF actually comes as part of the 2003 OS?

If anyone can help, it would be much appreciated

Pocket PC 2003 Software Development Kit

To those interested:

On the official Dell boards (handhelds>software), "BlueFlagg" has provided a link to download PPC 2003 SDK.

According to the PPC 2003 SDK .Net Compact Framework is included in the ROM.

Quote:
Microsoft .NET Compact Framework is included in ROM
The .NET Compact Framework 1.0 is included in Pocket PC 2003 ROM. The .NET Compact Framework is a subset of the .NET Framework that provides much of the rich functionality in a smaller footprint and allows managed code applications to run on Pocket PC 2003.
