Windows Mobile 2003 Internet Explorer Update

I just installed a sandisk CF-Wifi card on my Axim x50 and got it to work, so now I have wireless. I realized that this version has Internet Explorer 4.0 installed on it which is preventing me from viewing some web content. Is there a more recent version of IE for the WM 2003 OS that I could download and install? If anyone knows for sure please list the url:

Thank you!

Welcome to Aximsite!

No, there are no updates for Pocket IE per se, but you could try alternative browsers such as Opera or Netfront. Also, there are services such as skweezer that reformats webpages for mobile viewing.

Here it is:

http://www.skweezer.net/

And yes, it's free. :)

It does take some time to load the pages and formatting is often lost, but it IS an alternative.

threr _is_ an update for pocket ie!

but all it does is let you change the temporary internet files folder size, and enable/dissable Javascript.

it's called "IETOOLS" and it's avalible through the MS site (I think it's lsited as a PocketPC PowerToy)

I've used Netfront and love it, but it's a big program, it's almost a requirement to install it to a storage card (it's also slow - atleast on my X5 it is, might work on an X50 w/o problem...) it's support for JS is unrivalaed AFAIK on PPC. I highly reccomend it if you're gonna be doings lots of internet browsing.

There is a program and even a reg tweak to change websites from thinking its an older version of ie. I cant think of the name off the top of my head, but maybe somebody else knows it. PIE still has a hard time rendering advanced sites.

If your going to big adavanced sites, id recommend netfront or opera.

The utility is called 'TogglePIE' and is developed by our own greytrev.

There is a free download here

ALL his programs are free.
Trevor (greytrev) has put a lot of effort into them, and he's VERY responsive to suggestions. Just have a look into this thread

He is open for PayPal - if you like - just an option :approve:

I just wanted to mention, I only use IE 4.0 currently for now.

And yes, when I may load a big site the browser does close.

I just load the site again, sometimes stays open, sometimes it doesn't.
