I have a quick question about icons. I have some icon packs (freeware) on my desktop. All of the icons are in the .ico format. When I try to transfer them to my Axim, none of them will show up. So, a pretty basic question. What do I need to do to them in order to use them on my Axim? Should I convert them to jpeg?? SOmething else?

Where are you wanting the icons to appear? PNG, TGA, and BMP are commonly used, but not all apps can deal with all formats.

You can use free software to convert them and then move to the PPC. If you want to use BMP format use the free software called Irfanview.

Thanks. I tried converting them to TGA since I noticed some other icons were also TGA, but that did not seem to work. I'll give this software a try and see what happens.

OK. So, my Axim crashed last night, and I lost all of my loaded icons. Of course, I have no clue where most of them came from . Can anyone recommend a good site(s) to download some icon packs for the Axim?

I keep all of mine on my SD card for that very reason. There are some links on my View MyPDA to some that I happen to like.

Thanks, AKA JohnDoe. Actually, mine were all stored on my SD card as well. Long story short, a program that was using them crashed and took a lot of other stuff down with it. I'm still getting things back up and running.

Good luck getting everything back. Dont' you love 20/20 hindsight. I'm posting this mainly to tell myself -- backup, backup, backup, and also back up those cards. Cards are really easy to back up, even the large ones, with a card reader. I've even done it wifi at the office, since my appoints and such then being input from my computer. But we always seem to forget!!! Thanks for reminding me, I haven't backed up my sd card

Yes, DeeCee, it seems like everything I have learned with my Axim I have learned the hard way. :) I always asked why do I need a backup program. Duh, two hard resets and a major crash that lost all of my settings...and now I am forever indebted to SK Tools. :)

OK. One more quick question on this. I have found some icon packs. They all use the .ico format. But when I use them on my Axim they either show up as blank or all jumbled up. I am assuming I have them set to the wrong size?? How do I fix this??
