Opening Word docs with File Explorer

This one has got me really stumped.

I'm unable to open any Word or Pocket Word documents by double clicking on the file name in File Explorer. This problem occurs even for Pocket Word documents created on my Axim x50v.

I have no problem opening files from within Pocket Word.

The issue is that Pocket Word only "sees" file directories one level deep. I'd like to save Word files in directories more than one level deep but then I can't open the file within Pocket Word.

There MUST be a way to click on a Word file in File Explorer and get it to open. This approach works fine with my PDF files. Do others have the same problem as me?

Can anyone help me with this?!?

Thanks.

It worked for me as I put it in a fourth level folder. The path was like this

\Device\personal\one\two\three\

Maybe you directory structure is too long which can couse the file to be unreadable by word. Have you try to soft reset and open the file again.

Thanks for your reply. I had to resort to a hard reset. The problem disappeared after that. I think it may have something to do with installing and then uninstalling TextMaker. My guess is that when I did that, certain changes were made that prevented my from opening Word and Excel documents using File Explorer.

I would suggest that after your hard reset you install only the needed software and do a backup of your unit. After that you can install anything you like and if thing goes bad you revert to your good clean backup.
