With Citrix the user has a session with the Citrix server. The Citrix server handles all the applications interfaces. All the user actually sees are the screen images. It used to be possible run a Citrix client on a DOS 6.22 PC and access mainframe and Windows applications due to this interface.

It should be possible to sync with an Exchange server, but when the Exchange server is accessed via Citrix, the user does not actually have a connection to the Exchange server; Citrix does.

I don't think your IT dept gave you very complete / accurate info. Citrix (from what's described so far) has nothing at all to do with whether someone can sync or not. Citrix is just a Terminal Services alternative. You can have a Terminal Server and an Exchange Server, and an FTP server, and File Server and so on - none of that says anything about whether you can sync or not, which is pretty much just determined by your Exchange version and how it's setup to allow this or not ....

I thought there should be a way. When using the ppc citrix client I can copy files back and forth from the axim so there has to be some interaction.

It all depends upon how much the admin who set up the Citrix did. That is the real beauty of a Citrix solution: You really only see the Citrix box, anything beyond that is whatever your profile on the Citrix box was permitted to see/do.
