Perhaps a link to the Press Release here, Chris? Ditto for your review, in the other 'sticky' thread on that one...

Not surprisingly, after the ZDNet article on Dell's admission of the problem, a bunch of yahoos started blaming Microsoft (sorry, doesn't seem to be their fault) and even more weirdly, Sun Java (what the f...?).

But fortunately, Dell has admitted the problem in public. Hopefully, they'll get the patch done quickly and get on with shipping the updates.

I ordered the upgrade (along with some other things I needed) from Dell Canada on Monday 8 July and when it didn't show up on the following Friday was told that it had shipped on the previous Tuesday. When it still hadn't shown up by the following Monday, I called again to be told that it not only hadn't shipped - but that a part of the order was 'backordered'. They couldn't identify which part. (Suuuuure...

It's now Friday, two weeks later and the order is still sitting 'in production'.

I ordered 6/26...my order is still "In Production" as well. I guess I'd rather wait for a finalized/polished product w/o bugs (or w/o as MANY bugs) than get an early release and have something to complain about.

Kudos to Dell for admitting a problem and stating that their end is the problem.

Boo to Dell for letting the units sell and making statements 'there are no problems' until everyone b17ch3d enough about it.

Just talked to Dell customer rep yesterday. He said that he had bad news and said the delay for the WM2003 would be a few months off. He also said that the problem was in the WM2003 software and didn't mention any problem with the Axim. He then proceeded (with my consent, dumb me) to cancel my order because of the delay. Now I'll be at the bottom of the list when I order again. Latter that day, another rep said the new ROM will be posted on the Dell support page in a couple of weeks and that it is going through testing now. He also said that ROM solves problems with WM2003. So who do I believe...!! Anyway

Who did you talk to? I'm sure WM2003 has issues, but that would not be related to the ROM update problem that some people are having. I downloaded and updated my A04 to A05 the day Dell posted the patch, all under 45 min including full backup of the system. Things work just fine, I also ordered another X5 advanced 2 weeks ago, it was delivered FedEx within 4 days.
