Okay, it looks like call #4 was the one for me.

On this call, I had to have the guy check three times and sit on hold for a loooong time but I am getting it.

Wowzers
42 minutes and 32 seconds later after being on hold, transferred, etc...I think that I'm finally getting the CD---she talked about a "billing address" but that's it---so assuming it's free...I think she said so!

I didn't get off the phone until she gave me an order number, so I think we're set!

My advice to those that are calling for their CD...hang in there, and tell them you saw the information off the Dell website underneath their "Forums"

Good luck!

That's great if it's accurate. Maybe others will be shipped sooner as well.

For those eligible for the free PPC2003 upgrade from Dell....

I have ordered my free upgrade, and did it in less than 10 minutes. Here is what you need to do:

1. Call the following number w/ this extension
1-877-773-3355 x66966
2. Follow the instructions posted by Michael_j in this thread.
3. Confirm your order buy waiting for an order number before you terminate your call with Dell
4. After one hour, the order is in my online account with Dell and states it will be shipping between July 28th and August 5th
5. I tend to believe the ship date on the web page and not what I was told...which was the standard line used by customer service 3-5 business days.

I had absolutely NO PROBLEMS with Dell. I told them the part number, the listing on their forums site. I was put on hold for only 30 seconds, and when the representative returned he had my order number and confirmed my shipping address.

Hope this helps

Well, I just got off the phone--after over an hour on the phone being shoved around to different people. Everyone I spoke with says they know of NO FREE upgrade for those of us who purchased within the last month. I was told that my only course of action is to return my Axim and buy a new one.

The woman I spoke with looked online at aximsite.com--she then claimed that this website is not an official Dell source (true), but then she suggested that all of these "Dell customers" are making up tales of free upgrades in order to twist Dell's arm into waving the $30 fee (which she claims applies to all regardless of how recently the axim was purchased).

She then very kindly suggested I send my axim back and order a new one with Windows Mobile 2003 (she really was nice about that part).

Internal Information Update?
Sounds like Dell needs to decide what they're doing and let ALL the employees know---

Okay...

JUST Receieved my AXIM 5!! WOOOHOO!! Hot out of the BIG BROWN BOX''s clutches and in my hands...

Called my Premier Sales Rep, because I am K-12 Education/Technology Director, and he sent me an E-mail this morning and said I was going to have to call another Education/K-12/Higher Ed Number.. Did that... On hold with a VERY nice Lady/Girl, who did NOT know how to enter an Internet Address/URl, UGH, and I sent her to the DELL Forum Upgrade Thread to their own website...

She had me on hold for over 15 minutes.. Took my number and e-mail, said she was going to have to do some research on that, because they did NOT have any memo's or idea what I was talking about. Hmmm.. I am in the Education business.. Went to College... Went to presehcool... ANYWAY.. <VENTING> Dell's EDUCATION DEPARTMENT doe snot know anything?????

JEEEZZZZZ.....

I knew this was going to be rough.. LOL Anyway.. fixing to call them back and ROUGH THEM UP! LOL

I DID GET THE COOLEST POCKET PC EVER in my hands right now!!

LOVE IT!!!!!

Bought my AX in Dec. No freebie here. But it sounds like $29 is worth it.

hello,

first post on this fantastic forum!!!

Questions:
1. what happens if you've bought your axim from elsewhere, other that dell's site (like i did)? are you elegible for the update?

2. I am from europe. Where is the order form at their web site?

thank you
