I cancelled my PPC 2003 upgrade as my shipping date had been put back 8 times - the last time showing an ETA of the end of August.
I say I cancelled it... I hope I did. The nice Indian lady said she will email 'somebody' to cancel it for me and that I 'should' hear within a day or two. When I said I wanted confirmation she didn't understand Engleesh and said 'Thank you for calling Dell'.
In my opinion, based on 17 phone calls in the last 3 weeks (yes I counted) in trying to resolve another issue with Dell, their service has dropped like a stone. The Indian call centre people are most polite, but ask them anything that is out of the script and it's all over.

Dell UK is showing available stock for WM2003 upgrade CD...
There's me, thinking about buying some more Ax-bits from Dell and I noticed that Dell were advertising the upgrade CD as their featured item on the accessories page.
So I took a peek and lo and behold the little "out of stock" symbol against the upgrade description has gone...
Is this a sign? (Or not?!?!)
(Oh, and I'm ordering a Bernie Keyboard, a serial cable & an extra AC adaptor.)

Hi ya Happy,
Hope your having a good weekend. My order date is still the 31st July, what does yours say?
I think its lookin good....
I was looking at the HP 2210 or the 1940 in the new Argos catalogue today. Both had 2003 as standard, plus built in bluetooth.
Dell had better beware.

A repeat posting, just for Doug... :p
The current Cheesecake Upgrade status:
Dell took £31.73 for the upgrade on 30/06/2003.
Dell refunded £9.40 for the "free shipping" on 08/07/2003
Current forecast delivery date 31/07/2003
And with all techie things, there's always something new and better that comes along. But sod Bluetooth! Its a real battery drain! Anyone ever used Bluetooth???
And anyway, do you REALLY want a gismo with the letters HP on it? :p (No flaming please, but I really HATE HP stuff. Nearly as much as Lexmark and their cheap printers but overpriced cartridges...)

Agree about Lexmark. I persuaded a friend to return a Lexmark because he thought it was a real cheap printer. When I told him the cartridges cost twice the cost of the printer, he nearly flipped!
I have to wait to check my CC, then the fight for the delivery. I'll quote you if I may, is that okay?
See you....

No problem Doug..
(I know a company that buys new Lexmark inkjet printers everytime the cartridges run out as its cheaper than buying replacement cartridges...)
And guess what Dell badged printers are!!!

Hi Happy,
My delivery forecast has exactly the same dates as yours so perhaps we may be expecting a delivery later this week! By now the date would have gone to Friday so fingers crossed.
I can sense the anticipation from other board members although many are waiting for the fix to the product we are waiting for. I presume ours will be okay already. Will it contain the BlueMobile Bluetooth fix as well?
The only problem is what the hell are we going to moan about when all this is fixed? Lexmark perhaps?

Slight news from the Office of the Cheesecake...
I've received an email from Dell stating that my WM2003 upgrade CD order is now registered with Dell's OrderWatch service, which means they'll email me with it's shipped...
I requested that service on 29/06/2003 ... Does this mean my order is finally being fulfilled?! :p
Don't hold your breath, you'll go red....

Hi Happy & Doug...don't get too carried away - order watch means nothing as far as I can see...but according to other places on this site it seems as though new machines are now being shipped with the fixed wm2003...and so it might finally be on it's way soon, once there are enough cd's I guess? Next the race to meet the courier...who'll be there first?
And what if we finally receive it are we going to discuss next?
Also I glad to see I have some kit named after me...thanks happy....I think you'll enjoy when you receive it

Happy and Bernie,
Greetings from sunny Gosport.
Do we need to send Dell a blank CD-R? What excitement (nearly put excretement!) Is this some inner thought process taking over?
Spooky........

Slightly off topic this, but...
Okay. WM2003 delivery date has moved to 1/8/03. (You'll see my little screenshot in a previous post has changed..) What a surprise, eh?!
Anyway, my order for the Bernie keyboard & other bits - heard nothing from Dell UK, then I get a phone call from Walsh Western asking when I'll be available to receive the bits. Do what? Nice of Dell to tell me the order number...

Hey happy, what did you expect...I waited four weeks for the keyboard and had confirmation of the order via e-mail and two posted copies via snail mail....can't wait till I get your keyboard delivered to me!
It would be great (if completely unlikely) if dell could just give us a realistic date for wm2003...but then that would be expecting customer service, and I guess just getting a working version of wm2003 is now the first objective

Hi Happy and Bernie,
Yep, gone right to the 4th Aug. What a coincidence, someone asked me about Christmas and presents etc yesterday....
