Got this from the Dell UK website just now:
Delivery time/date : 1st or 2nd week of August for English version, 3rd or 4th week of August for other versions
So there you have it...... This must be the longest awaited upgrade this century!
Watching the flurry of forum messages overnight and this morning about the A05 upgrade and the numerous problems some people have had, surely Dell must have some sort of procedure for testing their software/ROM upgrades before they issue it? Again I repeat, this is no tinpot Company but a Company with a turnover/profit of $39 billion dollars. I have a little experience of programming but the one thing I do remember being told was TEST, TEST before publishing my efforts. I think they are doing a "Microsoft" by getting the public to test it for them. If that's what they are doing, they must stand by the consequences.

Weird stuff and Dell
Folks,
I've got two outstanding orders with Dell - one for a Bernie Keyboard, and the other for the WM2003 upgrade CDs. On Tuesday I gets a call from TNT saying my order is ready to deliver, then 2 hours later I get an email from Dell stating "YOUR ORDER HAS SHIPPED". No order number in the email!
On Thursday, I get another email from Dell stating "YOUR ORDER HAS SHIPPED". Again, no order number but because I've got two outstanding orders I'm assuming one email must have something to do with WM2003 upgrade CDs...
Now today - Friday - I know at least one order is arriving. I had to take the day off work...
Oh, and just for a laugh - clicky

Doug,
Have you also seen how Dell are now describing the WM2003 upgrade on the euro.dell.com/uk website?

Dell Axim X5 Upgrade to Windows Mobile 2003 - ENGLISH version, for Dell Axim X5 only, 1 CD, ***** note that freight will be deducted when your order is processed >>>

One CD? The US version has 2 CDs!
Also the order status screen now shows:

We have located your order but we cannot advise a status, please email Dell Customer Care following the instructions below and we will be in contact with you.

Hi Happy,
Just looked at that myself and got the same status screen. Did as they asked and sent an email. What does it mean? i) We are about to send it. (Not likely) ii) It's all gone pear shaped. (More likely) iii) We are trying to confuse you, hoping you will go away! (Definitely likely)
Anyone else had this new message, I checked this morning and it still had a delivery date of 7th Aug.
Confusion on the number of CD's, maybe good news about the freight charges.
We could hold a sweepstake on what the next forecast date is eh?

Hi Happy,
My order status is exactly the same! It says despatched today and should be with me in 2-5 days. Unfortunately the hyperlink to Walsh Western asks for a tracking number which does not work but, what the heck, we could be cooking!!!!!!!!!!!!
After receiving no email communication for almost three weeks, today I received FIVE:- i) your order is in production ii) we have had to put your order back iii & iv) two thanking me for registering for ORDERWATCH and iv) thank you for sending us an email as we requested above because we haven't a clue as to what we are doing!
Hit the jackpot or what??
Have a nice weekend.

It's on its way..
Got a call from Walsh Western today, my upgrade CD will be delivered on Tuesday. Obviously there is movement then, at least in the UK, hope they start moving soon over the pond.
A quick question. Thinking ahead, I will presumably have to Activesync the upgrade after running the CD-ROM. I have a Dell TrueMobile Bluetooth CF card which I use for Activesyncing. Will it be okay to use this for ActiveSyncing or is it advisable to revert to the USB cradle? I am hoping that the TrueMobile CF card is supported this time round! It wasn't in the ROM upgrade version.
Problems, problems.....

I also had a call from WW to say that my WM2003 will be delivered on Tuesday....unfortunately they left the message on my mobile so I couldn't tell them I won't be in! So I wonder when I will actually get it...of course they could just stick it through the letter box but that ain't gonna happen is it!
Still at least it gives you guys a chance to tell me what I'm missing, or what problems I can infect my ax with!!! Good luck tomorrow!

Thanks obriensville for that info... :)
Bernie, I've got to cycle home (2.5 miles) in 30c + heat to wait for Lynx to turn up with the "1kg" (!!) CD!
Its handy that I know the Lynx driver will turn up between midday and 2pm around my neck of the woods...

Well Happy & Doug, I had just got up & gone to the bathroom to do what guys do first thing in the morning, when at 6.50am there was a knock on the door and lo & behold my CD's have arrived in the same Dell box that everything else comes in....now I just need to consider summoning up the courage to install it!
You guys got it yet?

Well, got it, tried to install it, got a message "The update does not support this language version".
What a farce! What do I do now, any ideas? Am about to hard reset it as someone else suggested. Should we really be doing this?

Change your language settings (start / settings / system / regional settings) to English (United States)...
It'll work then...
I've installed and it's working okay.
