I wouldnt count on hearing from them, i phoned yesterday and got told a load of rubbish about it being a free download from microsoft (ie they have no clue) i then sent them a shitty email saying i wasnt impressed with their crappy service and wrong info and would like the real answer.

Most of the US lot now have a confirmed 22 JULY date for the upgrade release so id expect the UK will be the same and i read as much in PCW magazine yesterday.

Spoke to Dell this morning and the rep that I spoke to said the following:

Price: £19

How shocking is this!

I expected a higher price than that, that price seems reasonable

Normally if it's $29rrp in the US then it normally equates to £29 in the UK.

If there is a free upgrade for customers who bought an Axim within the past month (e.g. ME!) then he wasn't saying anything about it.

Availability:

This product wont be shown on the Dell website till next week and will not be available to buy until then.

However, I was very surprised when he said, I recommend that you wait until Microsoft have ironed all the bugs out, you know what MS are like

Makes a change £19 squid in rip off britain, however lets wait and see what the actual price will be.

Also anybody noticed that UK dell site is cut down version of US site even have small photo with description of accessories, for the UK we just get a list, and any updates (e.g. ROM updates, PPC 2003) are a week to 2 weeks late.

Hmm

Yeah, the thing thats annoying is that everything on the UK site eventually links to the US site! so how do we know what applies to US customers and what applies to UK customers? also .. if a dell rep states that DELL CUSTOMERS get a FREE upgrade.. then that applies to ALL customers, not just US customers

PPC 2003

I'm not one little bit impressed - I'd only had my Axim for 5 days when 2003 was "officially available". I've spoken to about 6 or 7 people in Dell to argue my case for a free upgrade. Most didn't have a clue what I was talking about. Eventually I got to speak to someone who said £23, take it or leave it (pretty much as bluntly as that).
This isn't the sort of customer service I had been expecting from Dell, and will probably be enough to convince me to steer clear of them in the future.

Ok..

I ordered an upgrade from Dell UK from this link:

http://dellware.euro.dell.com/dellst...56&s=uktra&v=d

And afterwards I received an email with the following text:

Well, £19.00 before tax and shipping. That's just about the same price as U.S. In U.S., it's $29.99....this would be about $32.00 USD. Not cool that it's about $50+ USD after tax/shipping though.

Any other Brits (and the rest of the world!) who are getting fed up with Dell ripping us off price-wise?

Any one else fed up with Dells "award winning customer service"???

I've spend hours and hours trying to get info out of Dell regarding the SD card issue with no luck...

Oh, and before anyone rounds' on me, I used to work for Dell!

To be honest £30 is not too bad for a new operating system, its not like its something we HAVE to have its just an extra. Also we should be glad for Dells quick turnaround on releasing the update as from what ive heard ipaq users dont get it till october.

And cheesecake how can u say Dell rip people off??? We got a fully featured damn fine PDA for under £300 what more can we ask for?

Dont you take notice of the USA prices ????
Why pay £30 when they get it for about £15 + free delivery
It's not just the 2003 upgrade everything else is the same

Why can't we have the same service
