Hi folks - I purchased my Axim on the 29th of May so, at least by US standars, I shouldqualify for the free upgrade to 2003. Has anyone made a call to Dell Canada and gotten feedback? If so, please post in this thread. If you had success, please post exactly what you did (which department you spoke to and possibly the name of the CS rep with whom you spoke). Thanks!
Just to repeat what I've posted in the other thread.
I was told by the Dell Canada Customer Care rep guy
named Terry, the upgrade kit is not offerred by Dell
Canada at current time. It depends on Microsoft and or
Dell Canada if such kit will be availlable to Canada.
He told me to watch for the download on support.dell.com.
I send them an email after the call, quoted the Press Release (i.e. the upgrade kit is available to North America and Europe).
Originally posted by envynews I just called Dell Canada on their hotline, and the Rep told me that the kit will be available online/over the phone in two weeks. Guess i'll wait...
Thanks! Did they verify that people who got their Axims within the past 30 days would qualify for a free upgrade?
It's good to hear that they will offer the kit.
Need to quote the microsoft FAQ to get my free upgrade kit ;-)
How much do upgrades cost?
Each OEM determines its own pricing for software upgrades.
If you purchased your Pocket PC after May 23, 2003, you may be eligible to upgrade (for just the cost of shipping and handling) if your manufacturer is making an upgrade available. If you purchased your Pocket PC before the May 23rd date, an upgrade may be available from your manufacturer for a nominal fee.
Dell.ca has updated the site slightly ...it now indicates that new Axims come with 2003, so hopefully we can take this as a good sign. I'll be checking this thread like clockwork in the coming weeks.
I know that I'm gonna be checking Dell.ca every couple days to see when the pack becomes available. I got my Ax in Feb, so I'm paying. Sounds like WM2003 is worth it.
and the upgrade kit will probably be ridiculously more expensive than the Dell US price of $29 USD. that's usually how it is with Dell US vs. Dell Canada :(

Well I called into Dell Ca today and got pretty much the same answer that the upgrade will be available in the next couple of weeks. What I was also told is that they won't know if there is a free upgrade program for new buyers or even the purchase price until that same time.
