Eh, the Gateway reminds me of my old Jornada. It's not that bad. There are plenty of designs I like better, though.

Excuse me, but I don't think that 9 of 10 PDA users are right handed. You're thinking like Microsoft -- no need to make anything convenient for us lefties. Other than that, I agree. The Gateway is butt-ugly.

I don't believe that being left handed is any more than 10% of the population, I'd pretty much surely say it's less... although, it doesn't mean the demographic should be ignored... the scrollbars thing is annoying, but I don't even think Windows XP Tablet supports their relocation... althouhg, sometimes I hold the Axim with my right hand (when browsing, and using button-based input, especailly with the cursor app Pirazu), I find that I can use the Axim's jog dial with my right to scroll, by using my middle finger, or in a larger-handed pesron, the index finger. This looks like it's possible on most devices actually, so should work instead of scrollbars where that would prove a hassle, using arrow keys in input panels can, as well.

That's one reason I don't own a tablet.

Now that I mentioned it, It's also the reason I don't own a Microsoft force feedback joystick or a Microsoft keyboard. (The ergonomic keyboard is a great idea, but I reach for some of the split keys with my left fingers -- their keyboard doesn't let me do that.) I actually went to a store looking for both, and was disapointed.
There, now I've said it. Shouldn't I feel better?

That top of the screen swoosh looks like it's curling its lip at you and sneering. What a shame they're not going to be available in the UK :crooked:

I actually think it looks decent. Not good, but decent. However other then that its a carbon copy of the axim, and at a higher pricepoint. Whose going to buy it?

Better late than never, I gotta jump in this thread ~
It's fairly obvious that Gateway targets the non-technical minded with all of their products, and I feel Dell does a lot of the same, but this handheld is atrocious. Watch though, when they stick a sale sticker on it to go "with" the price of their systems, there will be a market for the POS handheld. It's way too little and too late to even consider competing with the Axim, no doubt. However, I have met so many people that have seen me using the Axim that have asked "What is that? A computer?" that I'm convinced there's a market for just about anything someone throws together, as did Gateway. Feel about the same about the Zire, and they've got quite a market. The lack of tech savvy in the general population astounds me. This excuse for a handheld from Gateway looks more like a toy than a functional piece of equipment. Maybe I could pass them out for stocking stuffers? LOL
Peace Out.

Socket Wi-Fi CF for the Axim cause Dell didn't have anything when they first put out the Axim
(Hoping for a Sprint CF connection card soon)
The only reason I bought a handheld at all was because you can't build them yourself like you can a PC...

swsmiddy is right -- plus, people will be able to go to the Gateway store and see them. With Dell, you have to buy on faith.

Not exactly correct. Dell does have kiosks set up in a lot of major malls around the country, and you can bet the farm that the Axim is displayed there. Now, granted, not as many locations as Gateway stores, but at least Dell is starting to make their prescence known.

Actually we can see many Dell products in the Tampa Bay area just by going to a shopping center. There Dell has Kosiaks with a variety of their products, including the Ax.
