Can't remove Adobe Acrobat 1.0

I have done a search and read through the methods to remove a program and none of them seem to fit my situation.

I used to have Adobe Acrobat Reader 1.0 installed but removed it using the "Remove Programs" on My Axim X50. It is no longer listed there, or in ActiveSync. However, when I try to install Adobe Acrobat Reader 2.0 a message comes up on the PPC saying 1.0 is still installed and please remove it before installing 2.0. Where can I look for the leftovers which are apparently preventing the newer version from being installed?

I have tried finding the older version again to reinstall and remove it, but don't see it available for download anymore.

Do you remember when you installed it? MM, BIS or Storage card?

Use the file explorer to look for files that may have not been removed during the uninstall.

I would start with Windows>Program files

Maybe someone else has other ideas

also try sktool or memmaid to remove bad registries. It might be an registry issue.

Sometimes there are some files the axim thinks are in use and will not remove them. You need to do it manually. Look for Adobe files on memory cards, built in storage, program files , and in windows, and do a file explorer search to remove any left over files. When you used Axin's removal program, it should have given you paths of files not removed!

I don't see anything with Adobe under Program Files. I don't ever install anything in Built in Storage or my SD card, so it should be in the normal storage area. However, I've also searched for anything Adobe on my SD card. When I use File Explorer the Built in Storage shows no files.

How do I do a search for a file in Explorer? I can call it up but I don't see a Find or Search option anywhere. The only way I've found is to use ILauncher and look at the memory settings. I then click on the option to find files using more than 64 Kb of memory. This then gives me the option to type in a file name. I tried as an example "*.lnk" to see if there might be a shortcut to an Adobe program left. It told me there were no files found on my entire PPC with that search. That made no sense to me.

I have edited the Windows Registry on my PC before to remove programs completely, but have no idea how to access this on the PPC. I have a feeling the trace is in there, so I will do a search for the 2 removal programs mentioned.

SKTools (http://s-k-tools.com), Pocket Mechanic (http://www.antontomov.com), and MemMaid (http://www.dinarsoft.com/) will all help you remove system junk, including programs that just don't want to go away.

Thanks. I downloaded Pocket Mechanic and it found a registry entry for Adobe. I deleted it and voila, version 2 installed.
