Aximsitex50icon Moving Programs to built-in memory

I know this is probably a well asked and answered question, but if someone could direct me to a good thread or forum on how to move Programs using windows mobile 2003 FROM the ram to the rom, and Make them so they still continue to work properly. Id greatly appreciate it.

I am using a mac, so if there is a way to do it from with the axim itself without using a windows PC, that would be great to know, but if using a windows pc is the only way I am sure I can figure it out, and get the use of one...

Thanks in advance for any help....

tp Aximsite. The best way to move programs is to reinstall them, preferably after a hard reset. A hard reset would allow you to see exactly what is in BIS and clean that up at the same time. Items stored in BIS do not get erased during a hard reset and sometimes you will see you have several different copies of the same thing in there. Autility such as memmaid or sktools will also help in this matter.

The easiest way to reinstall your programs would be with a pc. However, if you have the .CAB files for each program and you have a way of getting the .CAB files to the axim, that would works just as well. There are only a few programs that wold lose some functionality if they were installed that way.

Many programs also put markers to themselves and calls to needed files and .DLLs in the registry. That is why simply moving the files may not work. That being said, some programs can be moved that way. In which case you have to move the files, find the shortcut .lnk files and change where those shortcuts look for files. YOu can find the .lnk files using either the native file explorer, or better yet one of the freeware ones such as GSFinder or Total Commander or the commercialware, Resco Explorer. All of the alternatives offer more features and are easier to use than the native file explorer. Google will get you hooked up

Well, I have had some good success I have managed to get about 24 mb or so free ram, whereas prior to moving the apps around I had about 5.. Most every app has been moved succesfully and appears to work fine, I did have to repair all of the shortcuts in the start menu of course...
