GPS and MP3 at same time?
Can anyone tell me whether it's possible, under Windows Mobile 2003SE, to run two applications at the same time? I'd like to listen to mp3s whilst using a GPS but both Tomtom and WMP hog the whole screen so I can't start the other!
I have an Axim 30i and would be grateful for any ideas - I'm not wed to WMP, anything else would be okay. Thanks, Co!in

Oh yeah, you can run many programs at a time, as many as your memory allows.
However, both being quite memory gobbling programs, you should probably exit (not minimize) all other programs. Normally, when you press the X in the corner, it only minimizes the program, not exits.

I use task switcher (free one - MagicButton) this lets you bring into focus whichever app you need. I am doing this with Iguidance and TCMP player (not as bad on memory as MS media player). Good luck.

Hi,
If you don't see the bar at the top, an option is to map a button to switch task. Pocketplus let's you do this, but I am not familiar with your program. If your GPS program takes over all the buttons, see if your GPS has a way to let you minimize it or switch to another applicaiton. iGo has this on the main screen. It will depend on your software. Cheers.

If you are using TomTom, just press any button, preferably mapping one to your media player. If you are using iGuidance, or any other non-fullscreen program, simply start the other program as you would normally.

Running 2 Applications at Once
If you click on Start/Settings/Memory/Running Programs you will see that you probably already have several programs running at once. You should be able to click on the top of the screen where your GPS program name is displayed (where "Start" would normally appear) and you should be able to open other applications from the Start menu. WMP keeps playing even if it is not the current primary display. It's just like minimizing WMP on a full-size PC. I don't know if the X30 has enough computing horsepower and memory for this to work well without getting really slow. I have a 624 Mhz X50v with WM2003SE and I routinely run Delorme StreetAtlas and WMP simultaneously while I am in the car. I try to make sure that no other applications are running except for those two.
Good luck! | ||||||||||
