Hmm Network Logon Password

For some (unknown until now) reasons, the last couple of days when I try to connect to the shared files on my PC, my X50V asks for network logon password.
That did never happen before, as far as I remember. Maybe I did it in the long and distant past, but I do not remember.
Problem is that I cannot seem to be able to use my user password.
What should I use ? Where can I look for help ?
I have a X50V with WM2003SE. I was using Total Commander when the problem started, but the same happens when I try to use PIE.
The WIFi connection seems to be ok.

Thanks in advance.

Bruno

I sometimes get this using Network Browser, but I am able to tap OK without entering any data in the Username or Password fields.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried it, but with no success. The form with the username keeps popping up, asking for a password. I tried my PC user password to no avail. Oh boy.

It may take an administrator password?

The network share password is not the same as your user password.

It is whatever you set up when you shared the files.

HOWEVER, I have also come accross this problem before, as I did not set up a password, but it asked for one. If anybody finds a solution or reason, please let us know!

My problem did dissappear after awhile, but I am puzzled as to why.

Stupid question time :)

You are connecting to the correct network? By that I mean, is there more than one network to connect to and, if so, are you connecting to the one with the shared files that you want to access?

Was your PC's guest account disabled?

Ikehiker and others had a similar problem in this thread.

He was able to solve the problem for himself.

I had a similar problem on a previous computer that I got around by creating a user on the PC with the same name as the Axim and created a password for its access. Then, when I tried to connect, it asked for the password and I entered it the first time and never had the problem again. My current PC (which is running XP Home like the other one) never gave me that trouble, so I'm not sure what other setting difference I had.

Big Smile

This was the problem. I had actually disabled guest.
Thanks a lot. So I have discovered I was connecting as guest, not as myself.

Thanks a lot again to everybody

You could have also tried \\SERVERNAME or DOMAINNAME\USERNAME

The PC is standalone, it is my home PC. It is not connected to any domain; I suppose servername could be the name of my PC, in this environment, perhaps.

Thanks all the same

Yes. In your case \\servername would be the name of your PC.
