Missing eMbedded VB Runtime on PC 03

If you are running any legacy apps and you get an error for missing a runtime file here is the link to download it.

eMbedded Visual Basic Runtime for Pocket PC 2003
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Please Read Before Installing the eMbedded Visual Basic Runtime

For End-Users of Pocket PC 2003 Devices

The eMbedded Visual Basic (eVB) Runtime allows you to run legacy eVB application on your Pocket PC 2003 device.
You should not download the eVB Runtime unless you have a Pocket PC 2003 device as it does not work on other versions of Pocket PC.
The eVB download is approximately 2.7MB. As such, we strongly recommend that you only download this file using a high-speed Internet connection. For example,

You can connect your Pocket PC to your desktop using ActiveSync and download using the desktop pass-through feature. For more information, please see the "Connect to a network or the Internet through ActiveSync" topic in the ActiveSync documentation.
You can download the eVB Runtime file directly to your desktop using Internet Explorer. Using the ActiveSync "Explore" feature, you can then download the CAB file to your Pocket PC 2003 device. Once you have downloaded the file to the device, you can use "File Explorer" to browse to the file and tap on it to install.
If you are installing the eVB runtime on a Pocket PC 2003 device which is not an English device, you may get an error indicating "Failed to load resource DLL MSDAEKO.DLL" during installation. You can safely ignore this error, tap "OK", and continue installation.
For Applications Developers targeting Pocket PC 2003 Devices

The eMbedded Visual Basic (eVB) Runtime allows you to run legacy eVB applications on Pocket PC 2003 devices.
Please review the End-User License Agreement for the eVB Runtime before downloading.

I downloaded msvbppc.arm4 and am not sure what to do with it. I there a specific folder I should copy it to? Microsofts instructions are a little skimpy. I would appreciate any help. Thanks.

Can't get ebvruntime to install

I have used this program before and it has never been a problem. However, it used to download directly to my pocket pc through explorer. Now the link through the pocket pc just sends me to some msdn headline page and I can't get it to download from there. I went directly to the link and downloaded it to my desktop then copied it directly to my pocket pc. It does nothing. Copied it directly into the Windows folder. It doesn't seem to read it. No exe file to install from.... Not sure what the problem is. I found the older version I had previously downloaded last time hard reset my pocket pc and didn't work either. Any suggestions? I called Dell they have no answers.

Hmm Hmmmm.

What is the default location? I have copied the files directly to the pocket pc and I can't get it to read them. I understand this is a user error, but I can't get it to work right. And the directions on the internet are sparse at best.

I am unable to download this file directly from the internet using either the pass through desktop nor wirelessly. When I put in the site address I get redirected. I tried searching for the file on msdn site and it redirected me again. The only way I can get the file directly onto my Pocket pc is to down load it to my pc and copy it. And that is not working. The files need to go into their proper locations on the Pocket pc or it won't work... period.

All you have to do is:

1. Download the msvbppc.arm4.cab file.
2. Copy the msvbppc.arm4.cab file to any folder on your PocketPC.
3. Open the file explorer on your PocketPC.
4. Browse to the folder where you copied the CAB file.
5. Click on the msvbppc.arm4.cab file.

The PocketPC should then begin to extract the contents of the CAB file to the appropriate folders on your PocketPC, as well as making any registry entries that are needed. After it has finished all of this, you should be set to go.

How does one know if this has been accomplished?
I did the upgrade a few months ago, prior to that I had installed these cab files. Now I am not sure if they are still there.
Radiate your Axim, only fair, it radiates you.

even easier - download as an .exe, run it on your desktop while conencted to your ppc with active sync. it will insall for you no problem.

p.s. -- once it has been installed, it shows up in the add/remove programs section (under settings)
