Would you mind trying Windows Media Player?

I have used WMP for music. No problems there. I don't know about video, though.

Request from lord rick:
"Would you mind trying Windows Media Player"?
Not at all, as I am typing this response, I am listening to a couple of MP3's I recorded in Music Match JukeBox, I record all of my mp3's in CD quality, 128kbps, and so far am not having a problem, I purposely downloaded a couple of tunes with some very heavy bass, and one has a quitar solo that is intricate in the riffs, and chords used. Again, so far not having a problem. If there is anything else I can try for you please let me know!
Thanks....:D

Thanks! I should have been more clear, though. Could you try watching some video using WMP? You can get there by putting the Ax in the cradle, pull up pocket IE, go to favorites, Windowsmedia.com, and select a video. It will invoke WMP for you.

lord rick, again as I am typing this am watching a file on the windows media player entitled Pro Wakeboarding Footage. I did use the 100k connection, but so far seems to be playing fine. I do have a Cable connectoin so that could also make a difference, but again so far seems to be working fine. Do you want me to try using a slower connection to see how it works? Let me know ;D

That's great news for you! So what is different about your Axim from everybody else's?

Dont' know what to tell you on that, after watching the first clip, also watched the Trailer for the movie's Terminator 3 & Hollywood Homicide. Again did not notice any problems in watching the clips, and also both of the clips only had a 56k connection. and they were fine, however at the end of Hollywood Homicide, it did stop to rebuffer the clip butt his was after 5 minutes & 5 seconds and then told me there was a problem with the connection but up until that point this was this third clip I had viewed. also just to make sure watched Looney Tunes in action, but agian no perceivable problem. Not sure what to tell you on this one! However after the problems with the first unit, am certainly not going to complain either. I do not notice any other different ROM or other files than have already been mentioned on this site before. Have to start getting ready for work, but when I get home this evening if you like I can go to the system and list what versions of items I have listed? :D

Whether or not someone feels that their Axim Advanced running WM2003 is performing adequately is really moot at this point in time.
I don't recall Mjbsgreys stating specifically what Axim he owns. Is it Basic or Advanced? Is it running 2002 or 2003? lord rick you are making the assumption that he has an Advanced running 2003. ;)

Could you also go to Start\Settings\About and tell us what operating system version number you have, including the build number. Thanks.

My wife is an Anime nut. I got her the Ax advanced and a 1GB CF card so she can take video with her. We used to watch video on my 2002 ppc and it was ok. We could only encode it with Windows Media 8 Video. I was really excited to get WMP 9 so I could play WMV 9 files finally. I encoded a few files and tried to play them. They were really choppy so I coppied them from my CF card to the built-in memory and they played just as bad. It could be that I'm encoding them wrong. I'd love it if someone could give me a good encoder profile (.prx) for the PPC to try.

Slow programs
My Axim w/ the 400 Mhz processor and PPC 03 is very slow running Excel files and when I tap on the AvantGo browser, it crowls, hopefully the fix will take care of these issues.
Anyone experiencing similar problems within these programs ??
Cheers

cyberlord, download XCPUScalar and force the processor to 472Mhz... that provides enough of a boost to make it usable.
