actually not really.
sleep mode is what happens when you press the power button, that's all. in that state where its not doing anything, a full standard battery can last for weeks.

I think you all are looking at how fast the OS performs..
This is the first build of the OS.. so Its not gonna refresh screens as fast etc etc.. and programs may open a tad bit slower etc etc..
But trust me.. all in all it is a ton faster then what you all had before..
But I may be wrong.. I hear axims are all spoofin messed up :P
(Im on my ipaq it runs great)

I just got the new Ax yesterday. I have to say I am somewhat disappointed. I took my SD and CF cards out of the "old" Ax and started using them on the new one. I have only installed a couple of things in my main memory-less than what was on the old one.
I can deal with the slow powerup. To me, a couple more seconds is not that bad. But launching is slower, too. I played BookWorm last night (from my SD card). Game speed seemed slower when compared to 2K2. To be fair, I do not have any games installed that aren't on a card (I will test this later this morning) so I don't know if there is just an issue with the cards.

how the heck could dell release the upgrade in such a poor condition?? They've just reduced the value of their freaking product right when it's got big competition in the 2215.
is it possible that the axim simply can't handle the new OS? how are other pre-2003 ppcs performing with the upgrade? this is ridiculous. dell is going to retroactively lose like a month's worth of axim business when everybody starts exchanging their 2003 units, unless they put together a fix real, real soon.....

Should we flood Dell call center with complaints?
C'mon we got over 15000 members, why not?

I just tried a DivX movie that worked fine on my PPC2002 Axim Standard & it skips frames like hell on the PPC2003 Axim Performance.
There's definately an issue here

I have an Axim Advanced preloaded with WM2K3 in-transit. If it is the dog that everyone is stating it is, I'll be calling it in with 24 hours.

Just out of curiousity, what exactly do you consider "slow"?
I just got my Ax last week and it has WM2003. I haven't used PPC2002 before, so I don't know what "slow" is. But from sleep, my Ax shows the today screen in roughly 1 second and Pocket Word loads in probably 1.5-2 seconds. I haven't had any time to do any benchmarks on it, but maybe I'll able to tonight.

Mine doesn't seem slow. Granted, I came from a Palm, but it seems fine to me.
I ripped the Matrix to WMV and it seemed to run fine too.

There were some posted benchmarks on the main page last week overall it seems to have performed much better than 02. I have the CD on the way but may wait to see. I wander if you can reload 02 - A03 if you're unhappy with 03

I'm benching mine right now. The only thing that's on it is total commander and pocket hackmaster, and those are stored in memory. So we'll see what happens in a little bit.
