PPC 2003 is VERY SLOW!!!
I just got my new DELL Axim Advanced running PPC2003 operating system (4.20.1081 build 13100), ROM version A04.
Sad to say , it is very slow compared to my previous DELL running on PPC 2002.
Powering up takes at least twice as long!!
What's the problem here?

Powering up is reported to be very slow on the iPAQ h2210 too, but the important part is, how is it working in general?
PPCT has tested upgrading the iPAQ h3970, and it was in general 15% faster with PPC2003, so the Dell should also be that much faster...
Can't wait to get my CD with the upgrade...

Powering up quickly is very important to me. That was one of the bennies of A03. I already think it's too slow when I'm talking to somebody in the hall and we decide something that results in a PDA note, appointment, or task. I just can't stand the thought being slower than those Palm guys. Cheese -- is M$ going to do the PPC what they did to the PC?
How slow is it to power up, really? can you measure it?

powering on after hibernation isnt slow on my 2215, but soft resets take 15 secs... the OS itself is sooo much faster application wise

No problem for me with how fast it boots. It's when I'm using it that I want it to be fast.

How slow is slow? What kind of Axim do you have?

what exactly do you mean by powering up? leaving sleep mode (pressing power button) or startup time after a soft reset?
if it actually takes a long time just to get out of sleep mode thats awful...right now it's instantaneous.
as for soft resets, i dont soft reset often enough for ti to matter.

Hmmm i guess ive been leaving my ppc in sleep mode most of the time and not actually turning it off. Does it drain much power? If i left it like that for a day or two would it drain the batt all the way down?

I don't have MM2003 on my Dell yet. I'm waiting for my CD, like most of you. However, I do have it on my HP h2215, which is very similar in terms of hardware, and MM2003 is fast. This unit is definitely quicker than the Axim at the moment.
I'm not sure what issues the person who started the thread is seeing, but I am surprised he is seeing such poor performance with MM2003. That's not been my experience at all.
