Built in Memory = ROM?

This might seem like a dumb question but is built in memory the same thing as ROM? If so why does my Axim show only 21.24 MB of built in memory when I should have 48 MB. Is the ROM corrupt? My RAM shows 64 MB like it should.

It's corrupt.

Just kiddig... Some is used for the OS. The rest is your for file store. 48MB ROM minus 1 x OS = 21.24MB.

It's normal. The FlashROM is taken in part by the OS and it is encoded in the ROM so that there is no way to access it w/c includes reading in it. Rest assure you do have 48MB of ROM space, but Dell programmed it where you can at least access part of that ROM for extra storage space and the OS part of the ROM will be hidden.

Thanks for the quick reply. At least now I know my Ax works as it is. Don't know if I'll upgrade to PPC2003 though. Maybe by the time I receive it from Dell (currently shipping July 30) some of the bugs will have been identified and worked out.
