I have 2003 and i cant figure it out how to make it work.
Theres no file assoc. and i cant open a local file from PIE or open one over the internet. Am i missing something or is it not 2003 compatible?

I had the same problem with 2003. Couldn't get Flash Player to work. I just ended up uninstalling it.

It's not an actual Flash player. It is strictly Macromedia Flash. It allows Flash files to be run...without it nothing on the Ax will recognize an .swf file. After installing Macromedia Flash 6 you would need a Flash player like FlashAssist

Totally Newbie question-

What is the point of installing MM Flash 6 if you still need app like Flash Assist? What is the point, why can't MM Flash 6 just allow you to view the files?

How did you get it to work? Did you set up an HTML page linked to the Flash file that allows it to play in PIE? That's the only other way I've heard of being able to play Flash without a 3rd party app.

Yes it DOES work on its own on 2002. I just installed it last night. I downloaded it and then executed the file from my PC. It was no different from any other .exe file.

Were you playing .swf files directly? Or were these Flash files that had been converted to desktop-playable .exe's?

the flash player for our axim's is just an activex "plugin" for pie and as such it can play back .swf files that are embedded in html pages such as http://www.joecartoon.com/

flash movie creators can create two types of movies when they use the macromedia flash authoring tool: .swf's that need to be embedded in an html file and "projectors" that are standalone executables for the mac & pc. this works well and good for desktops, however....

for ppc's, by default a flash developer can only make .swf files that are viewable from the browser or a 3rd party flash viewer program. the developer must buy an addon (>$400 i believe) from macromedia to create standalone flash movies for the ppc that don't need pie to run as well as being able to run in fullscreen mode...there are also other 3rd party solutions.

to the best of my knowledge, the desktop .exe projector files do not run our ppc's.

i have an axim a5 advanced with the a03 firmware and am able to view flash movies via pie just fine...i did nothing differently than the standard install
