Hey Mike,

You can still count me in! I am still waiting for 2003 as well but at a loss with what to do!

Thanks in advance

Mad Fed Up

Dell AP's decision not to release the WM2003 fix downunder absolutely baffles me when they're doing it overseas. Aren't they all one big happy, group hug company??

I hope something happens soon, as the day I turn my Ax into a discus is rapidly approaching....

mortemei... I suggest you re-read the previous post to yours and perhaps follow the suggestion therein.

Mike.

Yes! Haven't implemented the suggestion yet but it certainly seems a pretty good one!

Big Smile Ax Relaxed

I have just received a call from one of the reps at Dell AP Customer Support.

He has assured me that Dell AP HAVE yes....you heard it right...HAVE, after much deliberation, decided to go ahead with the release of the WM2003 fix for the AP area and the fix WILL be shipped to owners on Disk.

The fix will not be going back on the FTP site.

There was, however, no timeframe given for the release.

My faith in Dell is on its way to being restored.

Miracles can happen I guess.... :D

Fantastic! How ironic... just as a few us managed to solve the problem.

BTW, did you follow my suggestion Mortemei?

Mike.

Yes, I did thanks Mike.

Admittedly I did send a rather heated email to Dell AP Customer Support which outlined my disappointment in the whole situation.

This may have prompted the speedy reply, but I got the impression that they've been getting quite a lot of pressure from the AP customers and they finally reached breaking point.

It's true...public forums DO work...he he

:)

Question No Upgrade For PPC2003

I have a suggestion for the people at Dell if they have no plans to ship the CD to us poor Australian customers which I bet there is a lot of. Why can't they let us pay a small fee say $5 and supply us with a username and password and let us download the upgrade from one of their many website and burn it to CD ourselves?.:rolling:

The rep I spoke to did not say anything about ordering the CD, but that it would be made available to / shipped to owners of systems sold with the dicky WM2003.

I don't know any more than than I've stated in this forum. The rep said he would call me again if anything changes and when it becomes available.

If you need to find anything else out...consult a mystic crystal ball, because I don't think Dell AP are going to say much more than that.

Bottom line is, it IS going to be available in the AP area....just going to have to wait a little while I guess.

:D

But it sounds like it will only be available to the people who have the suspect WM2003 on their machine already.

Again...I don't know any more than what the rep told me, but I'd assume Dell AP would require owners with 2002 to purchase it seperately.

But hey, they decided to give us the fix after saying they wouldn't, so you never know.....

Erm, hang on a mo - are we sure Dell mean the *UPGRADE* from WM2002 to WM2003 and not the *PATCH* to fix the dodgy implementation of WM2003 on the Axim? If they say they're sending it out to people who got an Axim with the dodgy WM2003 then it suggests very strongly to me that this is the patch rather than the upgrade!

Mike.
