Is there any logical reason mm2003 isnt a download?
Why won't dell (and HP, and all them as well) just release it as a download? THeres no point in having to send it through the mail other then forcing us to pay for shipping and handling which is unneeded. It should just be on handango or their site for dl (with a fee) imo.
Also- still no news on getting the free update without having to call? Id do it but i dont want it sent out yet anyway cause of the performance issues, but i do want to know.
btw after 3 days my comp finally allowed me to log in! I dont know what was screwed up. Now i can finally make the 1 post i needed to be a super member.
They probably wont make it a download because of all the piracy that could happen.

Download vs. CD Mailed - This may be an issue with MS and their licensing requirements.
Free Upgrade - I'm sure some people arent going to upgrade their PPC to 2K3. Why should Dell send out the OS Upgrades to everyone? Economically it doesnt make sense.
Again, just my thoughts on it.

'Bacon!!! I smell bacon!!!'
If you cant make fun of your own profession, who can?
chog- well yeah but cant someone just get the file off the cd and then share it too? Oh well, i suppose it would at least limit it.
wired- on the free upgrade i meant that for the already confirmed free upgrade for those who purchased it within 30 days. When you order it on their site there is no way to put in a couplon or be logged into an account confirmed as to have bought it within 30 days or whatever they could do to get it, you have to call them.
There is the possibility that there is a code on the CD to obtain the upgrade not to mention you need the license from microsoft/Dell in order to have it.

the piracy is gona happen either way...it will be online somewhere the same day it would be released online, or recieved by any number of individuals via snail mail....this is simpily microsoft's and dell's way of making even more money....
Why should they give us something free that costs money? I didn't get Windows XP for free when it came out, why would I expect them to give me WM 2003. I do get updates free which sounds good to me.

Yeah, I found it amusing that this LeeJam character has requested the Axim update on every post he makes, not realizing what he'd be in for if he got it.
I wasnt elloquent enough, sorry. What I meant and didnt get out was not all of the recent purchasers will upgrade. And that is still a significant number of people to just mail out the upgrade to. Its a corporate thing. Basically show us you want it and we'll send it.
