Dells sevice is not the best, but it you will get a rude awakening when you have to deal with hp support.:D

Friend had a hp comp. that he wanted me to repair. Wouldent you know that in that time i would fry the modem.:p well, i needed the modem to load the drivers to win xp, and i called them to see if they had and driver cd's for xp, and there was an arabian woman answering the call.(i have nothing against these people, im just making a point). She knew verrrrry little english.
She told me to turn on and off the computer 10 times and see if that fixed it! After that did not work, she told me to rebuild the computer! And i was like, why? and i hung up.

The hp service is horrible, and i hope it is better with there handhelds because they sure are darn expencive.;)
nothing personal but i really have to wonder how much you know about computers if you have to call tech support for a driver. there are only a few million places on the web to download drivers from including manufacturers websites.

what you are overlooking is the fact that HP owners don't need to care what the tech support is like since they do not have to call. see the HP handhelds actually work properly. therein lies the problem since the DELL handhelds do not work properly.

dell's handeling of the situation is reprehensible.

If you were not so quick to post you would see that i had no modem. And i had no ie connection at the time.
i know, i build many computers, thank you very much.

What if the hp goes wrong?
ehh, im not going to start a flame war, so ill leave it at this.

This was dells first pocket pc.
On hp's first pocket pc it had its errors to.
This is a dell axim forum, so if you hate the axim so much why are you here?:crooked:
Dell set a standard for making a device that was affordable, yet it was feature packed. Dell did a good job.
I have had both sides of experience from dell, hp, compaq, gateway. And let me tell you that dells service is BAD at times, but there are worse solutions.;);)

i don't hate the axim but i am exceptionally dissapointed with DELL.

IMHO their conduct through this whole ordeal has been borderline fraudulent and downright contemptous towards the consumers.

its a bad way to do business no matter what you are selling and leaves a bad taste that does not wash away easily.

This is dells first pda, they never knew how it would have been. Compaq had the same ordeal.

Dell handles more people a day than you or i could imagine.
Its harder than you think to keep it all under control, give em' a break.:D

Dell handled this situation fine. (with the exeption of ppc2k3).
They mess up. But there support depends on who you get.
Most reps are great and helpful, some are as helpfull as crap, but it depends. If you find a good rep write the phone number down to where you can directly call them.:D

I dont work for dell by the way, i just think they did not do as bad of a job as you say.:D

I have dealt with HP customer support, and the experience was much, much better.

Despite the "glitch". I am still happy with Axim. I ordered the upgrade and still do not have it. Glad they are fixing before I loaded it. Despite what someone said earlier about Dell hardware being cheap, the Axim is a great handheld device and great quality for the buck. You won't see me selling mine anytime soon. I use it everyday at work and the older OS is fine for now.

It is a fallacy to conclude on the basis of one or even three or four experiences with technical support, the overall quality of support given by a company.

I have dealt with Dell on scores of technical support issues, and had only one or two situations that were less than stellar.

I am still undecided on how Dell handled this. Large companies, like governments, are always slow to react to things, and they inevitably stall while they make a decision. The number of complaints on Aximsite, while significant, are not huge for a company like Dell, and there are situations where large companies can have difficulty reproducing errors that are obvious to users, for entirely legitimate reasons.

I think I'll reserve judgement until we see Dell resolve the issue, or not, as it turns out. If Dell does not resolve it in good time and properly, then I will be very disappointed.

The big unanswered question, IMO, is "How did Dell NOT know of the problems with the Axim Advanced w/WM2003 prior to shipping?!"

My opinion of Dell hinges on the answer to that question.

i 2 think dell has done a good job, you have to keep in mind that you payed like 200 -300 bucks less than any equivilent hp or compaq, so you also have to give em credit there. If it wasnt for dell ide probly be on a casio or even a b&W P^A<L>M

looks like their testing had a hole in it lol!

maybe it had something to do with that torching chamber test>? or maybe the 15 ft drop? :p

im sorry but that is kind of funny how there make them commercials of all the tests they do and then they screw up like this, i know its their first ppc model, but LOL

thats my 2 cents
