That is just too long to have to wait. I am glad I did not upgrade yet.

So Dell Sweden says, that the problem is not in Microsoft OS, but in Axim's firmware (translation from Swedish). And about the delay, I tried to order WM 2003 last week from Dell Finland and got a mail where they said, that product is not available before August and they will contact me then.

Just to make sure everyone noticed...it reads "at latest in early August." That means it could be available sooner than August, but at latest that is when it will be released. Plus, August 1st is only 2 weeks from today. This means that they are basically saying they shoot to have it released within about 2 weeks.

well, I guess that settles it. 2 more weeks puts me outside my 30 day window to return. Too bad the satisfaction window is so small, or it takes so long to post a rom. Heck, why can't they just post a special rom of a03 (ppc2k2) that can be installed over ppc2k3? I'm sure it's just a matter of having the loader accept a04 as overwriteable.

Bottom line is I'm calling dell today for my RMA.

i hear that snerdley.... i need to try the new patch before i can just go trusting it will completely fix the problem... If i could get an extension on my 30 days window, i would be more thna happy to wait it out... but if i dont then i will rma as well.

firmware shouldnt take THIS long to fix..... im thinking they just want ot make sure i cant return

You should call Dell or E-Mail them about an extension. I am sure that thjey would understand. I have been E-mailing them about my warranty transfer and they have prompt and nice.

Yes, Duddles, it's all about you. A multi-billion dollar corporation is delaying a patch in a vast conspiracy to prevent you from returning your $300 PDA. :p

it sounds silly when you say it that way with the little smile face at the end but how does it sound phrased like this...

a multibillion dollar corperation is unable to create a patch in a timley fashion so they are conspiring to provide misinformation to prevent thousands of consumers from returning $300 PDA's and all the accessories that were purchased with them.

not so cutsey when you say it that way now is it?

Just a FYI, I spoke with a "Lee" (genuine Texan, not from New Dehli) @ x42612, he 'says' the 30 day window extends from the resulution of a customer satisfaction incident, and that it was up to the CR to extend that or not.

He was very convincing and I wanted to take him for his word, but I got my RMA anyway. Figure better safe than sorry.

Still sounds silly. They still stand to lose much more by dragging their feet than they will make by "suckering" a few hundred buyers into being stuck with a $300 Ax.
