Just thought some people might be interested in this. If you go to Dell's web site, and start customizing an Axim, it will give you a preliminary ship date of 8/11/2003. This doesn't change from day to day, it was the same both yesterday and today.

yeah, they are allowing for the backorder of the axims that have already been ordered to be shipped out and figure they'll be done by than so than they'll ship new orders. i ordered mine on july 16th, originally had a shipdate of july 21st, than that press release about stopping shipments, hence the backorder, and now i have a shipdate of july 28th.

Me too. Ordered on the 16th with a 7-21 ship date. Now shows 7-28.

Lets just hope we get 14000 or something cooler maybe. BTW did you get a phone call and/or email about the delay? i didnt.

I would have died of a heart attack if Dell called or e-mailed.

Yeah, their email notification system leaves a lot to be desired. I called customer support a couple of weeks ago due to shipping concerns with my replacement Ax. The rep told me I could sign up to get an email notification when it shipped. I told him that I had tried that with previous orders I had placed and it didn't work. A few minutes after I got off the phone with him, I got this confirmation for signing up for email notification. I guess he decided to sign me up. I've had my replacement for a couple of weeks now. Still waiting on the notification email from Dell.

I ordered mine on Jun 19.

Had a original ship date of Jul 9 then they changed that to the 14th .

Then they cancelled my first orfer and I know have a ship date of 25 Jul.

I'm so pissed!!

true it shoudlnt take this long, but i'd rather wait a little longer and have a working PDA than get it right now and have one that doesnt work excellent.

whoa i gotta give you props for waiting that long! i couldnt last.. mine took 2 weeks from ordering i thought that was long

does this mean we will have to wait till then for a rom update to fix the PPC2003 problem? I got my Ax a day before they stopped shipping.

Ya, I have to agree with PDANewbie:

I assume that they'll probably have the rom update ready by the time they start building the new axims, and since the build time is 10days normally, it should be ready end of July at latest.

I also ordered mine on 19 June 2003, my ship date has changed a total of TEN (10) times (so far!). My current date is now the magical 28 Jul 2003 with delivery on the 29th. I HOPE it won't change anymore!!!

Wow. I ordered mine on 7/17 with an expected ship date of 7/21. Just checked, and the date still says on or before 7/21. We'll see.

My company's former Software&Peripherals rep was really cool and would give me scoops on such things. I'll try to pull some strings tomorrow and see if I can find out any inside information on what's going on and how reliable that date is. Stay tuned.

That is very strange to me...i ordered mine on june 27th and received my axim on july 3rd....i ordered it through the phone though and the guy was really helpful....
