Newbie Axims question

3 questions....

1) When I download software, I have a choice of different downloads for different processors. I know I have an Intel Xscale 400 MHz. Do I have a Strongarm, MIPS, SH3, etc. If mine isn't there can I use any of the other ones?

2) If the software is good for PPC2002 will it run on my new AXIM with PPC2003?

3) Where can I find Free software for PPC2003? I would like a financial calculator.

Thanks

1) if there is not an Xscale version, ARM will work as well. An Xscale CPU is just a newer, better strongARM. Some xscale optimizations may not work on the original ARMs so thats why its always best to get the xscale version because it may be better.

If there is no xscale, get ARM.

2) Most PPC2002 software will run on WM2003, there are a few exceptions. In the next few weeks expect patches and updated versions of software and drivers to make them work better with WM2003.

3) The same place you find PPC2002 software.

Try searching on google for PocketPC financial calculator

I too am a newbie to both the PDA and Axim world; however, I will do my best to answer your questions.

1) Most software downloads will list the Intel XScale as one of the accepted processors.

2) Most software made for PPC2002 will run on your MS2003. If the program was written in eVB you may be asked to install the eVB runtime files. Available here.

3) The "other recourses" >> "downloads" have a few links to different productivity utilities, including a calc.
