Question Usb 2.0?

Does the Dell Axim Cable (that ships with the the New Axim WM2003) have a USB 2.0 on the other end or is it the older USB? Because on my comp. it has 1 USB 2.0 Port on the front and 4 older ones on the back.

Just Wondering!

It's 1.1 so it should work in any of your USB ports.

But since USB2 is backwards compatible with USB1, you can use the cord in the front of your case the same as you would use it in the back.

Well my Palm Zire has a USB 1.1 and it won't respond when it is in the USB 2.0 Port. But it will respond in the USB 1.1 Port. Hmmm?

Now that's weird. USB2.0 is supposed to be backwards compatable.

Yeah, at first i thought the problem was because i synced it to a friend's comp. and the Palm was looking for that comp. , so i did a Hard Reset and tried one of the USB Ports on the back of Mine and it worked!

Tried it and... nothing it acted like it wasn't even connected to anything, it said 'The connection between your handheld and the computer could not be established' Well @ least it works with the older ones in the back!

Do you have any other USB components you could test with it, eg keyboard, mouse, card reader, printer. it might just be the palm

I only say this because I have USB2 through the front of my new case and I plug both my digital camera and axim into it.

Not Hub compatible?

I don't know if this is the case here but I have seen some usb devices not work when connected to a hub but work when directly connected on the back. The front USB ports are often internally wired as a hub. As I just received my Axim today (from Ebay), I have not confirmed this but I thought I would just throw it out there.

Sounds like it's the problem. I haven't tried my Dell on the front i just use the back USB Ports;)

very weird. my compaq motherboard had a special attachment on it for usb 1.1 ports to go to the front of the case. I bought a USB2 pci card that allowed me to cable it to the front usb ports of my new computer and they work fine. what computers are you using so I know what brands to stay away from next time I buy.
