What's the fuss? I just got around to opening my new Axim X5 Advanced/2003. And it works...well. I've been playing around with it for 9 hrs, and have not had to soft reset once. I have a 128MB CFII in it, and it runs like a charm. Of course, being a first time PDA owner seriously damages my credibility, but I think that this problem, like the size of the Axim, is somewhat blown out of proportion. I'd run a benchmark, but the links are broken :-).
I'm content to wait for a patch. BTW, After installing an app, it created 2 copies of the shortcut on the programs menu. however, after going to /Windows/Programs/, the file list is blank. Any ideas? Thanks.

I dunno, unless I got lucky and mine isn't as broke as other peoples'. I have 4.20.1081 (Build13100) A04 (06140301EN) and it's a bit slow at times but,
-my videos are watchable in WMPlayer -my start menu comes up in 1 sec -I haven't had ANY issues with my 128MB Sandisk CF card or Ambicom WiFi adapter. -My sound has issues in one application -Diamond mine is a ton slower on graphics than my old E-125 So, unless people are blowing things out of proportion, it's very usable. Other than that, I must have got a not-so-bad one. -Kensupen

Oh yeah. If you want to manually remove items from the start menu, just delete them out of \Windows\Start Menu\name.lnk or name.exe
To be able to add them from the Start\Settings\Menu\ add a name.lnk to \Windows\Start Menu\Programs\ and you should be able to add it. I use Pocket Explorer for modifications like this. -Kensupen

Kensupen, Have you tried using Microsoft Reader, slow as a
three-legged dog! I at first thought it wasnt so bad, but after installing a few progs, surfing the internet with it for a while, well it then becomes painfully slow! I have the same build as you btw. I'm not sure wether the MS Reader that Dell shipped is the latest version though? Fingers crossed for a patch that solves all these problems, since this is my first dealings ever with Dell, i was impressed with there delivery speed , ordered my unit on July 3 and received on 9 July. So very impressed with delivery speed, but its a shame they didnt put ith through its proper paces before putting it out there for mass consumption. cheers BB

my MS reader works fine, almost if not as quick as on my old axim.
the axim runs ok, but it's subject to major slowdowns every now and then, other than that it works ok.

EEG, is your reader the one that came shipped with the advanced PPC 2003? I find it takes about 5-10 secons to load in a book,
but when loaded turning pages is not an issue. but selecting things from the menu is the same 5sec of waiting for a response. As with your experince it has the major slowdowns, and periods of running fine. Geez, you got your router cheap, you pay starting high $200's for one here in Australia! got me a Belkin, seems to work fine.
