I think the Dell website is kind of screwed up. Check this out:

I can also verify that my upgrade was pushed back until 9/4/03. Frankly, having seen WM 2003, this really doesn't bother me. Beleive me folks, we aren't missing out on a whole lot at this point.

I wouldn't be surprised if Dell started shipping the Axims with PPC 2002 for the next month. Either that, or the fixed ROM will be available internally much sooner than the date on which our upgrades are due to be shipped. I can't imagine Dell just telling everyone who ordered an Axim to wait a month and a half before it ships. That would pretty much kill all new Axim sales. Then again, this is Dell we are talking about so anythings possible.

I wonder if the Sept timeframe applies to the hardware (Axim Units) as well? If so, I wish they would simply ship it with PPC2002 and upgrade later.

Good question... before returning mine I pleaded with Dell to send me a CD with 2002 on it. I told them that I don't care if I had to later pay for a 2003 upgrade... I would've been happy with an Axim Advanced running 2002. (Which is what I thought I was getting when I ordered it from the website).

Got the same email. Canceled the order... will just wait till there actually shipping the CD to reorder. I'm not in that much of a rush and I'm actually glad they are waiting to release the CD rather than release something that would cause my AXIM problems.

My eyes have also been glued to the HP 2215 everytime I go to Circuit City... I may have found a new love >_<

I too want them to get it right no matter how long it takes. The patch for those already with 2003 is more important anyway.
